My quote from the "undesirable brands" thread.

They may believe that the man in his twenties buying the 86, might also buy the Camary for his family in his thirties and a Lexus GS model in his forties, so catch them while they are young, and try to gain brand loyalty. Mitsubishi might be sinking, and I wouldn't want to be on that ship.
I always wondered why they didn't make a Forester XT competitor; ie, an Evo SUV. Even if it was toned down, it would be a hot SUV. The shape of the previous gen SUV that had the same grill as the EVO was a good looking SUV. I was just not a fan of the CVT's or the fact that the base model is the only way to get a stick (like most manufacturers), and that the stick wasn't with AWD.

e Evolution = an AWD Turbo vape that recharges itself with every buff!!!

If you get a blow off valve that vents to atmosphere you and your new vape can blow O's at the same time.

Except it's not the future. Eventually governments are going to clamp down on the "free pass" crossovers & SUVs currently enjoy (classified as trucks for fuel regulations). And when those fuel regulations keep going up automakers are going to have to make vehicles lighter, which is considerably easier with a traditional "car" set up.

CUVs will always lag behind cars, it's inherent in their design.

I think the disparity is less than you think. Traditional SUVs that have a bed that sits on a frame like a truck are far less common than their crossover siblings, so many SUVs aren't the behemoths of the past. Many of these crossovers are pretty small, no more than a Golf with raised suspension. In fact small suv/crossovers like the Honda HRV, Audi Q3 and BMW X1, to name a few, are one of the fastest growing segments, and SUVs/crossovers outsold sedans this year.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport gets 30mph hwy and is 3150lbs. The Subaru Forester is 3450lbs and gets 32mpg hwy. Compared to the Subaru Legacy, it is 3550lbs and get 34mpg. The Legacy is surprisingly heavier, yet still better but probably from aerodynamics. So should they tax large sedans too or should they just stick to worrying about gas mileage only?

Im cool with them going electric. Electric is the future. But they don't need to do it, no more than the Outlander or Forester need to do it. Now, if they want performance without a hit to gas mileage the electric or hybrid will maybe be necessary.
