Justice CAN happen!

I noticed that a Rav4 was parked mighty close to my RSX when I was walking to work one day(office was 3 blocks away), but thought nothing of it and I was running late anyways. During my lunch break, I decided to check it out and saw that my hood was caved in from the Rav4's spare tire on the trunk and the offending car was gone. I called my insurance and filed a claim. Two days later, I find the Rav4, see some scrapes on the bottom of the tire cover, park behind it, and see that the damage matches. Called up the insurance company with the car's info, send pics, and after the car is fixed, I find that I don't have to pay the deductible.

Good luck OP!

All, thanks for the comments... A quick update is that we had a light dusting of snow here in Tennessee this morning so I didn't head out as early as I normally would. This isn't because I'm a ***** southerner either, but rather I have had so much crap go wrong lately I figured I'd not leave my hilly neighborhood in my now damaged BRZ on slick roads with summer tires! :P

I'm hoping to give a shot at finding the offender on Thursday now. Its probably a LONG shot but I'm hopeful!

This morning I have identified a possible culprit after monitoring traffic on the road near where my hit & run occurred. Near the exact time everything happened Monday a dark maroon Dodge conversion van drove past me this morning heading in the direction the hit & run driver took off in. I was not able to ID a handicap tag from where I was, and the license plate was not a disabled tag... Then again, that doesn't really matter because the person may just be such a piece of shit that they'd park in a handicap space just to save a few steps.

Either way, I'm going to look for them tomorrow morning and then attempt to find where they're going. If I can get a look at their vehicle and find marks from where I was hit I plan on getting pictures and sending them to the gentleman that saw the event unfold to see if he can confirm the van. If so then I'll be calling the police to see if my investigating will payoff or if they blow me off like any other time I've dealt with the police. Again, my best witness told me it was a conversion van that hit me and that the van was red so fingers are crossed.

Thanks!

Yeah it looks like I forgot to add a small tidbit of info in this as well... The impact zone on my car had no paint marks which seemed a bit odd to me. The van I saw this morning was sporting a chrome front bumper which adds to the possibility that "its the one" as they say!

If it was the chrome bumper it could suck for you since there is no paint transfer to your car and they could just wipe the paint off their bumper. The bright spot however could be that they are just to dumb to wipe the paint off if they are still driving around in a conversion van in this day and age.
