My turn for the hit & run

2016 has been pretty darn $#!++y from the get-go and this just adds to it...

Went to the gym this morning and afterwards decided to grab a cup of coffee before heading in. For the 2.5 minutes I was inside making my order a PoS conversion van driver missed the handicap spot they appear to have been pulling into and hit the rear passenger side of my car. From there they decided it was better to drive off so they tucked tail and ran...

When I was getting in my car some witnesses waved me down and told me what happened. Got out, and sure enough there was the damage. Of course no one was able to get the plates, and to add insult to injury the camera inside only captured the driver's side of my car...

Now to build on all of this, I bought a 2009 Ranger as my daily driver back at the end of December so the BRZ wouldn't have to endure the daily grind. Last week the Ranger's clutch master & slave cylinder's failed so the truck is currently getting repaired which has me driving the BRZ...

So, to all those who have had to endure this I now know your pain first hand... And to the person who hit my car and decided it was worth running? You can do this: and make the world a much better place.

I'll throw pictures up in a moment so we can laugh at the "totaled" comments...

Yeah, it has been a compounding year of crap! I usually park away from the front of buildings to try and help avoid stupid stuff like this or door dings. #EPICFAIL on this instance!

Dam that sucks. At least all is fixable. Just takes time and money, something we don't like to give up.

That sucks man...I feel ya. Got my BRZ broken into 3 months into owning it. Not only did it mess up my windows, the guy managed to eff up the paint...causing the whole door/rear fender to be painted.

It sucks realizing that all this is going to cost money down the line on selling it too. But that is the daily drama we car enthusiasts have to live with. Other people don't have time/money to respect other people's property.

Yep, talked with my insurance and I'll be out my deductible... Awesome...

I plan on trying to monitor the traffic for 30 minutes tomorrow morning to try and identify the other vehicle. It was 630 in the morning when it occurred, so my bet is it was someone going to get coffee on their way to work. If it was a red conversion van it should easily stand out since those aren't common anymore. Plus if it has a handicap tag that will place them trying to park in the spot that was next to my car. Since I have a witness I can hopefully correlate their story to the damage on the other vehicle and turn that over to the police.

It may not get me anywhere, but I'm going to try dammit!

Thats sucks, insurance should definitely be able to take care of this if you are full insuranced.

This is one of the reasons why i always try to park as further as possible... too many assholes on the run.

Hang in there man, things get better eventually

I hope you nail this douche, it's totally unfair and irresponsible to run off like that. But from the pics it's not that bad, I see no mechanical damage to the shocks it's just the rear fender and bumper cover stuff to me.

That does suck for you, but I am glad you're going to pursue this further and I'm interested to see how this ends up. Good luck ID'ing the perp!

Sorry for the trouble man. That's the worst.

Every time that I park near ANYONE or at the front of the store I assume this will happen.

Trust no one!!!

If they park at the same place, make sure to take pictures of the plate and where the van would have hit your car.
