DeshuL's FRS Adventures (STX/DD)
Hello everyone! My name is Chad, I'm 20 years old (don't worry, everything is 100% paid for by me) and I'm a car nut. Here's some backstory on my car addiction.
I currently own a 2006 MX5 that I now plan on turning into a full track car. I've spent the last 6 months doing a completely built 2.5L, which I'm going to turbo once I sort it out (I need to tear down the engine again bc piston ring gap). Here's my build thread on that: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=595843 And my most recent picture : I autocrossed that car in STR for two years, and was the 2015 STR champion in my region. I've always really liked the FT86's, and considered them a cousin of the Miata. So naturally when I decided to get another car, it was the top of the list. My FRS will be delivered within the next few days. It's a 2016 Steel 6MT (of course). Once I take delivery I'll post up some pictures, and include some detail with the modifications I will make. Stay tuned! |

Whooooh! The car has arrived at the dealership! I received these pictures from my salesman today!!
Unfortunately the weather is absolute crap for the next several days, so I won't be able to fully enjoy her.

I don't have any with the built 2.5L, because I just got it installed, and since driving it roughly 80 miles I discovered the pistons rings are woncky. Most likey bad gapping.
But here's a video of it in STR trim:

Quick Update:
I've driven about 350 miles now, and the car is great. It handles superb from the factory, even on those crappy Michelin tires. I'd say the only thing I don't like is the gearbox noise. Man that thing clank's and whines a TON! I'm going to change the fluid in it hoping that helps. Now onto the fun stuff I've made the first round of purchases!
I changed over the licence plate lights to LED, and I'm also doing the dome light PICTURES will of course come when I install everything aprox. 2 weeks!

So I'd really like to take some decent pictures for this thread, so I bought a 50mm f/1.8 lens for my old Nikon D80. I used to love taking car pictures, but I haven't touched my camera in over a year. I figured I'd try to fine tune my pictures with this build.
Here are a few test shots with the new lens in my driveway. Don't worry, I realize they are garbage. Notice the protective plastic on the pedals, I'm going to try and keep those on as long as possible.

So my tires were delivered today! The RPF1's will be in tomorrow! I won't mount them until my suspension is complete.
I will be autocrossing the car in 100% stock condition on Saturday. I'm going to make sure I drive enough to get to the 1000 mile break in! The following Saturday there is another autocross in Charlotte, I would LOVE to have all my parts on by then and race in STX, but unfortunately I'll be out of town all next week for work so it'll be difficult. The good stuff
