Do those bearings have to be pressed in? If so, I doubt you've got the tools at home to remove and replace the bearing.

Yes it has to be pressed out and in. It has a circular clip holding the bearing in place at the bottom. I own a repair shop, so fortunately I have the tools to get the get the job done.

We've also seen a lot of improper installs of camber plates on these cars, often people forgetting to put a support washer or lower bushing under the bearing (between camber plate and upper spring perch. Not saying that's the case here, but it happens.

Andrew,

We've seen the same thing a handful of times.

spherical bearings make noise. That's part of why the oem's use rubber to keep things quiet.

Aside from a few minor issues (upper spring perch rub on plate, loose top nut [user error on that one], and the occasional spring pop that went away) my camber plates have been perfect, almost imperceptible impact to NVH when swapping onto stock suspension (no confusion with the impact of installing coilovers and linear springs) and for the nearly 40k miles since (including a new set of coilovers, several spring swaps, track, autox, and shitty roads).

Maybe I got a set that was perfectly in tolerance but for this car I'd be disappointed with any camber plate that a passenger could notice. Not trying to trash anybodies brand, nor hawk any wares, I've talked to a few people not as lucky with the same camber plates that I have who couldn't tolerate them.

I'll be swapping suspension soon, it'll be interesting to try a different plate, but if they're noisy, my old ones will go back on or I'll buy a new set of the same brand.

My experience with plates (not Velox's though) on stock shocks was way different NVH wise. Bad enough to uninstall them. Issues were noticeable by everybody in car, both me & passenger, and i even had to adjust driving style/paths when meeting those road imperfections that caused worst NVH issues/loud hits heard in cabin.

I had a clickity clack that was very reminiscent of a bad spherical bearing. I thought mine were bad (after being hit by a dump truck) so I bought new ones from Verus. In the accident, the strut was bent, the lower control arm was bent, the knuckle was broken, the ball joint broke in half, but the bearings in the strut hats were fine. I ultimately found the knock was coming from the swaybar endlinks.

Also, your video doesn't sound like a bad spherical bearing at all. When they're bad it is usually a clickity clack, and a loud slapping sound. (My Rx7 Track car would eat them in the rear lower control arms)

Any updates on your car? I have exactly the same issue with this camber plate and from Vancouver, BC as well.

I am planning to replace it with the group-N one as this is super annoying. Every expansion joint on oak street bridge, I can hear the clunk noise (that's like every 100m?)

I'd be interested to hear your noise as well. Mine seems to come and warm temperature seems to be when it happens.

Hi sorry, I have been busy with work and my go kart so I put my car on the side. I ordered up some coilover isolator to see if I could dampen down the noise.

I did all kind of combinations with the coilovers. Ohlins + velox top mount = no noise. Ohlins + oem top mount = noise. Velox + oem shocks = the noise also disappear but there's still that light clunking but very hard to tell. At this point Ohlins and velox is not a good combination.

With all those combinations that you have tried I wonder if it’s a bad end link.
