The actual eclipse?
It's gonna be pretty "meh" IMO.

Me on Monday:
"Oh look, an eclipse."

Agreed. "Hey! That big yellow circle turned black for a second! YIPPPEEE!" I get that it's a rare occurrence and its cool to see but I don't understand all the hype.

Hey guys. New to the forum looking for some 86 Bros. I would love to meet up on 8/27 I'm up here in Washington, (Yakima valley) about 3 1/2 to 4hrs away from Portland. Send me some directions and I'll be there whereever "there" is, so long as it's within 4hrs. Definitely want to get into the car scene and make some new friends.

Not sure if the Larch Mt run is really worth your drive down here for the run. We did one last year to the coast and it was much longer & fun. Maybe we can consider doing another coast run in Sep?

I'd be down. I know Oregon Subaru Club did that recently but it was mostly WRX/STI guys

Actually, I was just thinking about all the anticipated hoopla and how it will pan out.

In March of 1970, my parents and another family took a vacation to drive to the perfect spot to see it. I was 5 years old and I remember it as vividly as the moment dad let go of my bicycle. Partials are ok but totality is the big kahuna. It's one of those things that gives us a taste of just how tiny and vulnerable we are, like the Grand Canyon, or Meteor Crater, or Mt. Saint Helens.

Except you can go to see those places anytime you like. You can't decide when an eclipse will happen which, IMHO, makes it even more poignant.

I get that. Didn't mean to sound like such a party pooper haha. Just seems ridiculous the lengths that people are going to see it.

Oh, not at all. Just offering up a little personal experience. I don't know how I would feel about it now. It really is being hyped to death.

Great to meet you last week, BTW.

Alright, alright, alright.

Like most people are saying, let's go ahead and move this to Sunday the 27th. I think the route is still totally great, thanks to @Omi Ham-Sandwich!
~
I'll update the original post with the route and date change. Let's make this a bigger meet up, as more people are aware of this, the better it'll be!

I'm up in washington for a Lemons race. So won't be able to attend

We should do a coast run the following week, the 2nd of Sept.

Looks like I'll be in town for this one now. If I don't end up heading back to Seattle too early I will try to join.

I last went up this route about 3 months ago on motorcycle and there were still cracks & bumps leftover from the Snowpocalypse. Not sure if it's been fixed.

Also there are PoPo's in that area; they hide around blind curves (behind trees) so you won't see them ahead. I got pulled over last time
It's gonna be fun road but I don't suggest going all hardcore on it.

Oh! And deers, lots of deers going up towards Larch Mt.

I was up there a month ago or so, it was still pretty messed up then. A spirited drive around the bumpy corners almost sent me in the ditch.
