The bushing will make it notchier but I've heard it loosens up after awhile and gets better.

The rattling at high rpms I still have, but they have either lessoned or I've gotten used to them.

The increased effort to shift isn't bad, I got used to it in a couple days.
The extra effort is more than compensated by the much shorter shifts.

The mtec springs extra tension is more than made up the increased speed into the gate they allow by allowing more accuracy in shifting.

The rear bushing does add firmness to getting into the gate, but that is made up by removing the vagueness of knowing WHEN you're solidly in gear.

Do you think a heavy shift knob like the Slammer would help?

Maybe because his short shifter for the STI (different than for the WRX, btw... They are not interchangeable) doesn't cost $70?

You get what you pay for, and having had a kb ss +bushings on my STI & now on my BRZ, it's worth the cost. Very worth the cost.

TL;DR: stop your bitching, it's not that much considering what you get.

I'm on my phone so if I make mistakes, blame Sportsguy83

I would like to personally thank @tom@kartboy for reaching out to me with the issues I was having. Excellent customer service. As for the shifter the mtec spring and kartboy rear shifter bushing made a HUGE difference and I can finally say that I like the short shifter. For anyone purchasing the shifter it does take sometime before you get used to it.

The bushings + KB SS in my STI made a huge difference vs the sloppy vague stock shifter. It went from missing gears and feeling like I was shifting with a broomstick, to really notchy and fast to click through the gears. The only learning curve was the moderately increased force required to click into gear.

I hooked up the reverse lock-out wrong the first time I installed it and had to get back under the car with my brother-in-law to get it right. It seems like it's a straight forward easy install, but there are some seemingly minor points that are easy to screw up.

A properly installed SS should give a very positive shifting feel (firm click into each gear).

All the customers I sell the Kartboy to, I always suggest making sure to get the rear bushings in, they make a big difference. All short shifters will move a bit (it's normal). I really like the Kartboy and it's pretty much the best banng for your buck short shifter out there IMO
