Noisy MCS Shocks

I have a set of double adjustable MCS Shocks that I am using for SCCA C Street Class. Is it typical for these shocks to "rattle" in the rear when driving over a bumpy road at 15mph to 20mph? This only occurs when the compression and rebound is set soft (3 clicks rebound, 5 clicks compression). When I set them to full stiff the noise goes away.

Yes, I have checked the torque settings on every bolt on the rear end, including the sway bar, and I have removed everything from my trunk. Just the fact setting it to full stiff and the noise goes away makes me think something is wrong with the shock or if MCS Shocks are just typically noisy.

Call Lex Carson at Motion Control Suspension and I'm sure he'll be happy to help you – he's always been responsive to any questions I've had about my MCS single adjustable dampers.

I got in touch with Ken from MCS. He told me to flip my rebound and compression settings, since they like to see individuals run higher bump.

I went from 3 Rebound / 5 Compression to 5 Rebound / 3 Compression and the sound is still clear. I was told it's most likely the piston not seating since the settings are low and its a little bump at low speed.

I think I'm going to just keep raising the rebound until it goes away and then see if that is normal. Even though I was told I wasn't damaging the shock, when these were 1-Way I never heard anything from the rear.

@Kuro86, did you ever resolve the issue? I took my car out of winter storage in the spring and I’ve had a slight rattle in my MCS 1WNR dampers all summer. I’m planning on pulling them out over the winter to change spring rates and I’ll go through everything very thoroughly then, but in the meantime I was wondering if you ever found a solution to your problem.
