Flashing EcuTek over BrzEdit

BrzEdit has been giving me a lot of grief. I'm thinking of switching over to EcuTek.

There are still a few things I want to try with BrzEdit, but I'm keeping my options open. Before I buy the EcuTek license, I'd like to know if I might experience any issues with flashing an ECUTek map onto an ECU with a brzedit map? Or potentially any other issues...

Flash it back to stock and it will be ready to be flashed with Ecutek.

Sorry for the noob question. Do you mean flash the base map on with brzedit software?

Once you flash with EcuTek and put the license on there, you will be able to flash in the stock and modified maps. So it really matters little what is in there to begin with.

I'm sorry, I don't know the full procedure.

@jamesm knows though...

Brzedit completely disables the ecu read process (by changing the seed-key algorithm I believe). This means that you must first flash the brzedit 'stock' rom before you can connect and flash with anything else, including ecutek.

Thanks for the info. The 'stock' rom... Is that the one that's called something like ZA1JA01I_ori.hex?
Or is there an actual option in the software to revert to stock?

Sweet! Thank you all for your help.

One more potential issue. I've read that the stock rom is different between countries. (Namely Australia and the US.) This seems bizarre to me since it's literally the same car. Is there a place I can find a repository of stock roms (for each country)?

Nope... Epifan just sent me an email with links to all the roms. I think I have all of them. Pm me your email and I'll see if I have yours.

I know it's probably not relevant. But flashing with BRZEdit over an EcuTek tune and you lose your EcuTek licence.

This happened to me and the Australian EcuTek distributor wouldn't give me a new one. It's probably in the T&Cs but I paid good money for that damn licence and now that I can tune with EcuTek I'd like it back.

Are you sure? I asked my old tuner who no longer works at the shop if I can flash ECUtek over my tune. He said there was no license on it. "was tuned with a shop license dealiomobob"

Interested because i'm supposed to get BRZcrap off my car this week for a @DeliciousTuning tune to test out.... @moto-mike id like to call you also. You never responded to my PM's or Contact request on your website. Can't find your # anywhere.

Weird...don't see anything maybe I missed it just shoot it over again. It's been a bit hectic the last week or two but we're nearly caught up, or at least should be by tomorrow's end. Number is 570-503-6686 (MOTO)
