Meat. I love the look they've created, and the aggressive front end really works once the car is lowered.

I had them really bad once and sat in my car in the laneway, with the window open trying to think of what I did different. Couldn't recall anything and shut the car off. Yes, they continued. They were actual crickets.
Bought mine in late 2013 in very hot SoCal, 90'something yesterday, and I've never had crickets, and it is supposedly very "crappy gas" here, although I'm not sure what that means. I've just read it's hard to get better performance with bolt-ons and a tune with the gas here.

And you are not alone some others have never hit the combo either. Some get tem when it is cold. It isn't a perfect science but it isn't a purely mechanical issue either. If it was a mechanical problem then it wouldn't come and go depending on the fuel or temp.

Mine did too on gas and E85, and I don't think it was a mechanical "problem" either.

The tide seems to be turning for the opinions on the front end. Toyota is not wrong, I guess. How do we make a slow car more attractive to the because racecar crowd?

Fake aggressiveness.

Anyone have any recommendations for a custom shop that could replicate the cB front end?

You'd be better off buying the skin and headlights from Japan than trying to make it. Having seen the cB in person, though, you are trading fake aggressiveness for fake 60s British sports car.

The front is not as bad as some of think it is. Though I'm more fond of the TRD Duck Spoiler more it's aggressive but subtle.

Indeed, not practical to build something that already exists. If you don't want something that looks non aggressive buy a 10 year old Miata. Most people that want a "racecar" or "sports car" want it to look good which usually includes"looking aggressive". Those who don't want an aggressive looking sports car are a minority. They might not even rationalise it as the aggressiveness being what attracts them. I've seen many body kits for many cars and very few clicked with me regardless of how "aggressive" they are. The first gen FRS clicks though

After owning an FR-S over a year now, I still have yet to hear these crickets. I run 100% gasoline, started out with 93 octane until the station I frequent said their supplier stopped producing 93 so I've been using 90/91 ever since.

I really liked the seats in that thing. Would look great in my Hot Lava car.

When you say "100% gasoline" I'm assuming you mean it has no Ethanol? If that's the case then yes, that is the solution to the crickets. Sadly, many of us in larger metropolitan areas don't have that option.

It's still fake. The character or capability of the car would not change at all minus the fake-aggression face. Sad that you think people would overlook it because not-fake-racecar.
