I can't think of any bolt-ons that will net that kind of time.

There is so much time available in the car that the owner has *already* bought.

It would be like me running out and buying the fanciest keyboard I could find rather than just learning how to type.
Not everyone wants to drive these on a track. Mods like a tune, UEL Header, and Exhaust all ehance the driving experiences in different ways. But I agree that Drive Mod---> power mods if you plan to run at the track on a regular basis. This car pretty special on a track outside of trying to set the fastest lap times. Great car to learn how to drive on a track.

Exactly.
This train of discussion came about by the statement that most can't feel the difference between a pre or post 16. That is true. Most can't. It is almost the perfect car to learn on no matter what MY it is. Only the true experts will ever notice much difference.

An extra 5hp up top from 2.0 liter NA, yeah that's pretty subtle change, not noticeable for 99% usage.
But going from 2.0 to 2.4 liter engine, people would definitely be able to feel and appreciate +20% more torque everywhere in the rev range Fingers crossed...

No smart person mods these cars N/A looking for a +20% power increase over stock. It isn't going to happen, even if you have a wunder-tuner.

Smart people mod the car N/A to get rid of the absolutely irredeemable mid-range torque dip, and if they get an extra 15-25HP from a stg2 mod package, well isn't that nice.

I was going back to the original point of the thread regarding possibility of 2.4 liter next-gen version of the car. Fingers crossed...

In that case, they are going to have to re-market this as "91" due to 91x91bore/stroke = 2.4L. (tongue in-cheek comment in regards to absurd 86x86 marketing uggghh)

Nope. The FA24 has the following:

Bore: 94 mm
Stroke: 86 mm

Assuming 175 whp at the beginning of your modding cycle as is the average, you'd need to hit the 35 hp mark to get that 20 percent power number.

19-22 whp is easy with a UEL and Stage 2 93 octane and killing the torque dip with a dialed in tune, not what OFT gives you buy dialed in in romraider:

200-205 at the wheels is easily doable with E85 on the unmodified OFT tunes.

No smart person would look for that increase but it's there and easily doable, the numbers you're mentioning are from when tuners didn't know this car, but it's doable today and safe

I have heard nothing about the new GT86.(Work for Toyota) They are being very tight lipped. The car just needs more torque. I highly doubt they will go forced induction. Hopefully they will go with a variation of the 2.5- 4 cylinder.

I don't think they really did much in regards to marketing the 86x86 bore/stroke of the engine. I know they threw as much 86/AE86 heritage tie ins as possible to this car but I don't think the engine bore/stroke really got further than just happening to be 86x86 and mentioned as such.

Whether it was built that way coincidentally or on purpose, that was never really clear.

A 2.4L N/A seems like the most logical choice to increase the torque levels and power without compromising the car's character. Plus it just so happens that the Subaru Ascent debut with a new FA24 turbo motor....
