Yea, original meaning BBC produced with British dudes, and original cast meaning OGs like Jeremy Clarkson, who was apart of the first gen show, and was the top OG of the second gen, originally.

Not entirely sure they know it's a car...

"Top Gear" responded to criticism of the segment on Thursday, saying it had turned on Ludicrous Plus for the Model S and that the Taycan beat the Model S in all five of the drag races it ran. While the 0 to 60 mph, 0 to 100 mph, and quarter-mile times displayed for the Model S were from a prior race, they were faster than any of the times achieved during the five most recent races, the show added.

Musk tweeted on Thursday that he sided with DragTimes. On Friday, he criticized "Top Gear," appearing to disagree with its statement that the Model S was in Ludicrous Plus mode.

"Show should be called 'Low Gear'!" Musk said.

I think you mean regardless of model, but to your point, I bet most luxury owners do little work on their car, regardless of whether it is an EV or an ICE.

While electric cars reduce the amount of maintenance that is needed, and Elon is claiming the next gen will be capable of a million miles, they still require regular maintenance. Tires need rotation, inflation and replacement. Brakes, while having longer lives because of regen, need replacing of pads and rotors and fluid. Wiper blades will require replacing. Bulbs will burn out and require replacing. Window regulators will fail. Parts will need replacing. People already are working on their own Teslas.

Also, cars will get customized. Audiophiles will put in large sound systems. People will lower and stance the cars. People add body kits, get tint, do lighting upgrades, etc to the exterior. People will do power mods on these cars, trying to unlock more power with a tune, even if it lowers the life of the battery/car. I'm sure in time we will see powertrain swaps; people are already retrofitting used Tesla engines in all types of cars.

I wonder how long this feud will last with ICE and EVs. I suppose there is still just as much hate on Prius' and Prius owners as there ever was, and like Apple/iPhone vs the world, these tit for tat feuds will likely continue for a long time. While I will try to buy a car with a stick for as long as I can, like I said earlier, we will eventually upgrade the family SUV to a Tesla, and I believe this will be the first American car I will own. Typically Americans are so gung ho about buying American, and while Tesla has been successful, there isn't great support for this American brand, which is odd. Maybe it is just Tesla, and we will find more support with Ford's Mustang SUV or some other EVs coming out by other American brands, or maybe this idea of buying American and supporting American companies is dying with the older generations, or maybe it is just EV hate, regardless of the fact that the brand is American. I don't know. We will have to see.

I would say Tesla has fanatical support here in the US. Despite the drawbacks and issues and fuglyness and, well, you get my point, loads of people people still buy them. They are starting to blend into the background same as every other car.

You just talk to people who value low weight, good handling, noise, being able to get energy anywhere you go, solid engineering, and established infrastructure over whatever it is Tesla seems to offer.

That guy from DragTimes also faked a video of a model 3 getting a ticket for running a stop sign in a parking lot while using the summon feature. Hahaha

I don’t doubt Top Gear fudged the straight line numbers in favor of the Taycan but I don’t doubt at all that the Taycan has superior handling.

Even Musk admits the Roadster was a pile of crap. Stop being a fanboy. Let me know when Tesla's stop having issues with the basics like the door handles, the charging ports, and the weather stripping.

Musk took massive donations from the entire auto industry to build the company, and yet for some stupid reason he thinks that means he is intelligent enough to run an auto company. A good experienced auto executive could make Tesla a great actual profitable company. But Musk's ego is far too big to admit the obvious.

They have just as much fanatical hate. Insert pictures of trucks ICEing Tesla charging stations or videos of people caught during sentry mode vandalizing Teslas.

We are also considering the Audi Etron to replace the wife's Q5, but we feel Tesla is ahead on technology as it pertains to the engines, batteries, range, price, performance, update system, supercharger network, etc. Moreover, as I mentioned before, I have never bought an American car, so this would be a first time scenario for actually wanting an American car with the bonus that the company is building these cars and their batteries in country. All my cars have been Japanese sports cars (MKIV Supras, Lancer, 240SX, BRZ). Like I said before, my next sports car will be a Porsche. When all the manuals have died, I would consider a sporty EV someday, but probably something like this, and it would be when battery technology has advanced enough to have lower weight than the current offerings:

Defects reported by new owners fell 44% between the third quarter of last year and the third quarter of this year, with reported issues reaching their lowest point in the 21-month period analyzed by Bloomberg in September. Owners described 35 problems per 100 new vehicles in September, down 65% from February, the worst month included in the survey, when there were 101 problems per 100 new vehicles.

Paint, panel gaps, scratches, and dents were the biggest problems owners reported to Bloomberg.

Bloomberg's survey respondents gave high scores to many of the Model 3's features. When asked how much they enjoyed driving the Model 3, respondents gave a score of 4.97 points out of 5, which Bloomberg described as an unusually high score for a consumer product. The Model 3's battery range, over-the-air updates, interior appearance, and touchscreen controls also received ratings greater than 4.85. The vehicle's automatic windshield wipers and voice-command system were the only features to receive ratings below 4.0.
Tesla is more than one man, and the company is profitable (see below).

Ever hear of Jeff Bezos? That guy sucked at making a profit too.

Quote:
For a sense of scale, it took Amazon more than 14 years—58 quarters after its May 1997 initial public offering—to make, cumulatively, as much profit as it produced in the latest quarter alone.

Keep in mind that Amazon consistently lost money for its first several years as a public company. It first reported a quarterly profit in the fourth quarter of 2001 and, at $5 million, it barely counted. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has long maintained that investing in future growth is more important than hitting quarterly earnings targets, much to Wall Street’s chagrin.

Then there is Tesla...
