Watkins Glen. NASA-NE.
I think I had a 2:14.xxx going but my friend in the grey EVO was holding me up in a few corners. Car felt fantastic thanks to corner balancing the night before. Thanks Edgar (endless_pain).

2:15.78

Geeze! You guys are quick. But I guess H7s vs Proxes RRs, I'm probably giving up about a second.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu0WH0Ce7NE&t=6s"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu0WH0Ce7NE&t=6s[/ame]

Finding a clear lap in traffic is a gift. This, and almost every other were mildly to moderately compromised. If it can be believed, stringing my fastest sectors together from the session would have made for a mid 2:15. So I think I'm at least close.

Thats pretty amazing. What sized tires are you running? More info on the car (suspension/power weight?). Temp on the track? That was likely a low 2:16 lap since your exit (last corner) was compromised by the E36, you were carrying less speed at start/finish.

Have you tried the flat foot shift feature? I have it tested back to back and its worth .25 secs on the track. Thanks to Emmanuel Baako for showing me the data initially.

Cheers,

Lutfy

What no lift shift are you using? OFT?

Thanks Lufty. I put most of the information in the YouTube comments but they won't show with a live link:

- 2013 Scion FRS
- Enkei RPF1
- Toyo Proxes RRs with about 12-13 heat cycles (during this run) 235/40/17
- Bilstein B16 coilovers (not ideal for the track but workable--on the stiffest setting they're probably a bit over damped and under sprung--I think that's why I'm getting so much understeer at T7-T9 but I like the stability under braking)
- Raceseng Camber plates & lower control arms -3.5/-2.5 (have to check the toe settings)
- Stoptech BBK
- TRD Exhuast, Highflow cat, OF UEL header (coated)
- Moto East Custom tune
- Autopower rear cage (welded) with 'proper' seats and a 6 point.

The last time it was corner balanced, with me + a half tank of fuel it was 2,899-lbs (I'm about 200-lbs with clothes and shoes)

I don't know the track temperature but the ambient during this run was about 58* and it was bright sunshine. It HAD been 37* the night before and it was raining the previous day. So I'd say conditions were ideal for power delivery but maybe not for grip. But it felt good.

I haven't tried flat foot shifting although Moto East did add it to the tune. (side note--it's normally controlled through the cruise control but I'm running a removable wheel and have no cruise control stalks so it's now this funky combination of hitting the defrost button x amount of times with the key in position I with your foot on the brake. LOL Or some such thing. But I have a beatronix box which makes the pedal dance a bit easier. But getting back to flat-foot-shifting, not sure I really want to try it as it seems like it would be kind of hard on the trans and synchros. I'd prefer to keep the car going for a while. I'm not after tenths that badly.

On almost every lap, of this session I was slightly compromised in some way. So yeah, I think I probably could have been in the 2:16s. Or that's what I'm telling myself. The first two sessions, it was only 40*/44* and the track/curbs were still a bit damp. And the final two sessions were combined with other groups and it was REALLY impossible to string a good lap. And I think at that point, the 'magic' had long gone out of the RRs. Saturday it was raining the whole day and Friday I had my RA1s mounted and could only get into the 2:19s. They still have plenty of tread so they were howling in protest and I was trying not to abuse them too badly.

Despite this I had a GREAT time out there and people were generally well behaved. It was my first event with GVC. Lots of fun. I just wish they would continue the point-by generosity by ALSO backing off.

Here's the full session if you're interested.

That's about what I did on my RA1s. I'm not sure but I think they're comparable. So you're not really off. Of course I don't have the downforce you do either.

I am using OFT yes. I had Steve99 custom tune my car (remote with me sending the maps back forth) and then I added 1500rpm drop on Rom Raider. I tried 2000 drop but the car would hesitate. This means when I press the clutch, the rpms drop to 7500-1500 = 6000 just in sweet spot for the shift.

Our cars are very similar. I weigh exactly around the same without the passenger seat and have the rollbar as well.

My alignment is spot on with yours. Yesterday I installed stiffer rear rates to combat the understeer. 550 front and now 650 rear. Felt great in parking lot testing, may want to consider rates and or playing with heights. I am tinkering as this car is newly built....Will know this weekend at VIR.

The flat foot does not hurt the synchro, it takes the revs down so essentially you are holding off gas when clutch is depressed but on data, it adds up to a few MPH end of straight. Not big but a few shifts here and there it adds up. I am competing for time (Nasa TT) and in DE setting run normal shifts.

Great, let me know how the springs go. There WAS a kit to change the integrated springs on the B16s and I kind of regret that I didn't wait for it.

And I guess I kind of misunderstood the concept of flat foot shifting. Got it now.

EDIT: Although I have to say, the softer springs DO allow me to attack curbs with confidence.
