Will we get the Toyota variant?
I'm a little perplexed as to what the plan is as to whether or not we'll get the Toyota variant? I know I read a little earlier on about the Toyota version coming to the U.S. as a Scion, which in my mind doesn't make much sense and I don't think it would be good for the car from a marketing stand point either. I'd be disappointed if we got the Subaru version only, especially after seeing the 86 II concept.

Nobody knows for sure yet and probably no one will until Toyota officially states that yes it will be a scion or yes it will be a toyota, and as for debating the matter there are countless threads on the subject, all we can do is wait and hope

Next month New York Auto Show is most likely be the place they debut the concept in the US. I could be wrong tho.

And until then, we won't know for sure. Just like waiting for the Geneva show, we now have to wait for New York. This time, however, the show will give us much more important information. I guess that makes the waiting that much harder.

We are not sure at all if Toyota will display the car at the NY AUTO SHOW, unlike Geneva, they told us in advance. |

This is true. I was thinking that since the launch date for the car was coming soon (end of this year), they'd have all the specifics by summer. But I guess it would make more sense to reveal everything at the Tokyo show?

True, but due date is near, so it'll be stupid not to show it at NY

I have a feeling its going to be at the Tokyo show. They(toyota/subaru)don't seem like they're ready yet IMHO.

Based on information given to Scion dealers, it's very like the FR-S/FT86 will be a Scion in the States.

^LOL!
While we may not see anything new from Toyota until the Tokyo show, Subaru has a history of showing off their goods at the New York show, yes? I would suspect they'd actually show us a concept by then, if not a very-close-to-production-ready version. |

Neither version has ever been shown in the US and there are really only two major auto shows left in the states before the production reveal in Tokyo. The LA auto show in november seems rather late in the game to be showing a concept car for the first time and then the very next month showing the production version, but maybe they want to maximize the hype right before the cars ship in early 2012. You are correct about Subaru's history at the New York auto show though, and I personally think that is a more likely scenario as it will give US buyers something salivate over all summer before the production models in Tokyo. |

I think the only confirmed NYIAS debut for Toyota is the 2012 Camry. No word on the FT86 yet.
