Bomb bomb.com

Drove MT till i was coaxed into it at the point of test driving the RS. A couple clicks on the paddle and then clicked DOWN. "AWESOME IM KEEPING THIS ONE!", I yelled at Jim. (salesman sitting shotgun) If you track this car it certainly helps with fatigue, increases focus, and permits you to keep both hands on the wheel wich is an advantage in most driving situations. Many Le Mans and GT racecars are equipped with paddle shifters and all F1 and Indy cars aswell. It's as technically advanced as gear selecting gets.

In before " But the LeMans cars and F1 paddles are not the same, they are dual clutch autos...." They may not be mechanically the same but the premise is the same: A computer shifts faster, consistent and more accurate than any human can and it allows the driver to concentrate on other things.

I forgot how fast the FRS auto tranny changes gears. Wasn't it something like 200ms?

The automatic transmission about a decade or two ago in baseline sportcars weren't very appealing to me. It seems to me back then stick was the only way to go. In fact I had a 5 liter mustang auto with a shift kit. I wanted max performance and converted it to a manual. So I loved the stick so much I actually converted from auto to manual (4k later).

In the FR-S for me, I feel I didn't lose any sportiness by going automatic; it actually feels like I gained additional sportiness sensation. It is a new way of driving for me with the dynamic of paddle shifting (and being manually to use the auto handle in the center consol) to shift, which can give that stick shifting "feel" (a supplement at the very least). When I am using the paddle shifters the feel is actually more sportier to me ("racier"). However, this doesn't NECCESARILY mean a faster car, or slower under certain conditions... : )

The dude's cool, but that's his opinion. A few other youtubers that I love watching (thatdudeinblue, to name one) said the manual is the way to go.

Still not getting a manual because people said so.

Well, that's your opinion anyway @Tcoat. All this has happened before and will happen again....

2 Months of ownership now.

No regrets on going AT. On the way to work in the mornings I'm usually just in AT but on the way home or out to lunch I'm always in manual mode with the stability control on sport. If I do go out just to drive then traction control is off but I haven't had much time lately just for that.

I love how quickly and easily the car shifts whether by paddle or the stick. It is still plenty easy to kick the back end out and bring it under control. Driving the car is an absolute blast everyday and I have actually been getting to work earlier every morning because I can't wait to drive it

This reminds me, there is a pretty tight/twisty road around my workplace. I just might come in earlier than usual just to run that road every morning.
