Can lightly/quickly hitting the spoiler with a heat gun close the gap? Obviously being careful not to mar the paint, melt the plastic, or make the spoiler droop (and whatever calamities stupidity can cause).

I briefly used a heat gun on low; you have to hold it until it fully cools or it flexes back to where it was.

any gaps that the tape is not sticking to will trap dirt and small rocks which will cause the paint to wear in that area. so it's best to make sure there is a 100% seal. if you decide to go wingless in the future, it will look ugly.

Use a thin bead of marine grade clear silicon around the gap

If someone realizes it's not bolted down, it will eventually be ripped off and stolen, or just mangled and left on. I've learned that lesson the hard way.

Just received the same exact spoiler. No tape came with although the item description said "comes with tape, may be pre-applied". Be sides that minor inconvenience, I applied an entire small roll of 3M outdoor double sided tape 20lb rated to the wing. Figured I was overdoing it, but better safe then sorry. Prepped trunk area with iso alcohol. Wing is on as straight and flush as humanly possible. But still big gap mostly just over the trunk garnish/where the "scion/toyota/brz" emblem resides/ I dont know what the heck it is called. Thinking about that marine sealant as mentioned before. Mostly to stop water and other crud from getting up in there. But the parts that are sticking are freaking ON THERE. Know this doesnt help but the timing of this post was too perfect for me to vent my frustration.
Will that marine sealant come off if need be???

Yes marine sealant isn't to hard to remove. And that's what i'm going to do, just block it off so air doesn't rush under it. Or I may try another clear sealant actually, good idea.

Yeah, mine is on there pretty damn good, I used 1 roll of the Loctite stuff. I live in a good neighbored, and I work for law enforcement. So my work parking lot is secure. And when i go out, i watch my baby.. No one will get my spoiler without a big issue...

Alot of manufactures use double sides tape from the factory boys..
