Blown engine = bad tune = bad tuner.

You'll see his (Dv8) other posts where he is sort of defending John, but then in others he's completely laying blame on the tune (not on John, which is weird because you can't have a tune without a tuner, right?).

I ask that negativity, finger pointing or general mass hysteria stemming from this be avoided. I signed up for more power, I knew the risks. I relied on John V for a tune. If he had past engine failures then that would be one thing, but he doesn’t and I’m a reasonable man. I’m just another unlucky one. John’s been with me every step of the way and I have a feeling he will be”helping” me with future tunes moving forward.
In either case, he doesn't seem butthurt because he thinks it's ok for someone in the industry of customer service to be a ****head to their customers.

I read the whole thread and I don't see how this can be linked directly to John's tune.

Smells like a witch hunt.

You're completely right. I'm not the biggest fan of Visconti, but Pizzaman beats the piss out of his car. I doubt the reason that it finally blew is directly related to Visconti.

Rods fail for one of three reasons..

1) Det
2) Too much torque
3) Defect

The tuner is responsible for 1 & 2, as long as the correct fuel was used. Unless the customer specifically asked the tuner (against the tuner's advice) to go beyond what was known safe.

Straight from the owners mouth.

Yep it's true. I def gave her hell. I put over 40k hard miles on it. Well over 800 highway pulls, 300+ street runs, 250+drag strip passes. I kept the stock actuators on the car so I couldn't run high boost and to be able to better control boost. My car weighed in at 4080-4090lbs on stock 20in rims doing 9.8-10.4's all summer long. Traps between 138-142mph. I knew I wasn't on the 5 year plan, finally caught up with me. I can no way blame Visconti. All my logs looked good. Visconti told me plenty of times, that I should build the engine.

It's already been posted by @Shagaliscious, but the owner is not blaming Visconti. The car was driven REALLY hard. I'm a member on the GTR forum and the owner admits he is hard on his car and is about to build his car even stronger.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing Visconti as I would never use him, but in this case, it was just time for the engine to let go.

This is why I prefer to buy a car with the power I want stock. If I had a GTR it would never be modded in the engine dept. I already feel that any car that gets to 60 in 5 seconds flat is amazing and yet a GTR doesthe deed in 2.9 seconds!

Agreed. It is over the top fast already... And where are you really going to notice more power? From stop light to stop light?

If you want a tuner car, buy a tuner car.
