Safe to run a catted front pipe + CAI with no tune?

Forgive my ignorance as I’m brand new to the mod scene. I recently installed a JDL high flow front pipe and a TRD Intake on my 2014 FRS. Is it safe to run my car without a tune? I was told the car might run too lean and could cause long term damage to the engine. Is that true? Thanks!

What header? Stock, I think you'll be fine, it's the bottleneck.

CAI depends. Most do all sorts of weird, some even hurting power, without a custom bit of tune work.

Thanks. I’m on stock headers and over pipe with a TRD catback exhaust. So I’m ok at the moment but if I get headers and over pipe this summer I definitely need a tune right?

Oh for sure. If I were you, I'd get a tune right now just to optimize things. You might be missing out on a good bit of power. Probably be able to squeeze out 10-15 hp out of those.

TRD intake is made for the car at stock, it doesn't have to be scaled even.

You replaced the stock catted FP with an aftermarket catted FP. Dont sweat it, you don't need a tune you're fjne

Agreed with @guybo you won't need a tune. Also, you won't get any extra power.

Stop with the exhaust mods and get a tune (OpenFlash or ECUTek). With your current mods either will do. Importantly a tune will give you improved responsiveness a little extra power you're probably looking for. With OFT, you can run e85 on your current mods which will give you extra power and kill the torque dip.

Unless you are talking about passing emissions or not getting a CEL you can run any exhaust mod you want without a tune just fine. You won't get the gains of a tune with the mods but even a full header back catless system will not cause problems on the twins with the stock tune.
