Pioneer NEX

Looking forward to getting the first Apple CarPlay head unit from Pioneer's NEX line. AS I will be buying it from the US and shipping it back to the Philippines I'd need to know what other parts I'd need to get to complete the setup on my BRZ.

AVIC-8000NEX
AVIC-7000NEX
AVIC-6000NEX
AVIC-5000NEX
AVIC-4000NEX

Firmware upgrade should be identical to the one for the Hyundai Sonata video.

I used the following for my 8000NEX install:

Wiring Harness - Metra 70-1761 Receiver Wiring Harness Connect a new car stereo to the factory wiring in select 1987-up Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Subaru, and Geo vehicles at Crutchfield.com

USB adapter - Metra AX-TOYUSB Cable for Toyota and Lexus Allows you to connect the factory USB port on select 2012-up Toyota and Lexus vehicles to a new car stereo at Crutchfield.com

Antenna adapter - Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter Connect a new car stereo to the factory antenna select 2009-up Toyota, Lexus, Scion, and Subaru vehicles at Crutchfield.com

Dash kit - Metra 95-8202 In-dash Receiver Kit Fits select 2000-up Lexus, Scion, and Toyota vehicles — double-DIN radios at Crutchfield.com

The dash kit is not a perfect fit. You'll have to notch out a bit of plastic, but it isn't bad and not noticeable once everything is mounted.

Thanks cnk. Are you an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad owner? Will you be upgrading your 8000NEX's firmware to CarPlay?

Also is your 8000NEX 200mm wide?

Don't have anything from Apple. Don't like them. I'll probably still upgrade the FW just in case there are any other improvements.

IIRC, 200mm wide would be the perfect fit, but there are very few that are that wide. All the NEX units are 190mm I believe and that's why you need the dash kit which provides some black plastic to fill in the gaps on either side.

Today car makers never work with aftermarket caraudio brands to establish a certain standard headunit sizes. This is the worst era of car audio since the smartphone and tablet have been on the market.
