Help deciding on a 2017 or 2018 BRZ

Hi all, Im a new member and interested on the BRZ.

I'm currently shopping for a BRZ and 2 dealers have a NEW 2017 Limited with performance package available.

They are asking: 24K + $1200 fees + $1530 tax + $200 tag
about $27K out the door.

Other is $25.7K + $1200 fees + $1800 tax = $28.7K + tag OTD.

THESE are both 2017, I have not quoted any 2018s yet.

These are the initial numbers quoted and I have not made any offers. My question is will it be better to go to a 2018? what would I be missing? What would be a good price to get these for?

Thank you in advance.

... Dunno how they do it in Florida, but paying more than $600 for dealer related fees, paperwork, and tags is a major red flag. Guessing that's why the MSRP is so low.

I'd go for the 2017 and get them to kick the fees out the door, or just don't deal on either.

But if you really want one, yes, the 2017 should be the same as the 2018

The 2018 BRZ has Apple CarPlay and android auto built into the head unit..that’s basically the main difference between the 2017 and 2018. You can easily get an aftermarket headunit bought and installed professionally for around $600-$900 but you’re also going to have an annoying mic sticking out of your dash.

Just something to think about.

Thanks for the reply,

Just to add, edmunds if that can be trusted is quoting the car at $27.3K

KBB is at $25,828 - $27,643 + tax = $27,377 - $29,301

Last car i bought 9 years ago (VW TDI, sold it back to VW for the scandal) the dealer only charged $699 in fees plus tag. I'm looking at the final number at this point so if they want 10K in fees and sell the car for 13K is fine with me

The two are virtually identical.
Does the 18 have the PP?
Are they same colour?

Sorry about the confusion. Those prices are both for a 2017 model identical except for color, silver vs red. red has 160miles. not confirmation on the miles on the silver, but stock fotos on silver still show plastic on seats.

silver is the cheaper of the two.
Thanks

Pick the one you like the colour of best then. Some will say colour means nothing but it is the first and last thing you will see of the car every single day and if you settle for a colour you don't like it will eventually wear on you.

Thanks, previous car was silver so I'm good there. All seems to indicate that the price is pretty good then.

Pretty good prices yes. You may try to beat them down a bit more since the 19s will be along soon but if they won't budge you still did OK.

The 2018 head unit has a slightly bigger screen, has a bit cleaner finish than the 2017 and is also running a newer operating system that is leaps and bounds above the 2017 (my wife has a 2018 WRX and that runs the same operating system as the 2017 BRZ). I’m also a sucker for Apple CarPlay so, that was a real nice touch too.

But you can always go aftermarket like HachiRokuX said! May be cheaper in the long run and then you can get whatever you like!

Thanks everyone, I pulled the trigger on the silver, I didn't hear back from the red car after they declined to lower the price.

I did managed them to drop the price by $200.

So it was $23,816 + $1300 fee and transfer, + $1507 tax, + $170 ($100 tag) misc fees = $26,800 out the door.

Car had 16 miles on ODO, drove it for a bit and i was sold,
Has performance package, homelink and mirror dimming, and wheel locks.
That's all I remember from the paper. I left the car at dealer until i get a ride there in a day or so.

Just to clarify, On the initial quote, salesman had $200 for the tag. on the final paperwork it lists $100. I had a Tag in the DMV from previous vehicle, so it actually costs them $100 less than original quote, Still $3300 less than invoice as per Edmunds. So i'm not complaining.

Sounds like a great deal! If you do want CarPlay/Android Auto, aftermarket is the way to go anyway. There have been a lot of complaints about the factory system in the 18s and I have no complaints about the aftermarket head unit that I installed in my 17.
