My door pieces are slightly wearing off the painted silver on them. Are these pieces an unfinished black plastic so they don't wear or are they also painted with black paint?

These are the JDM OEM units that are just black plastic. No coating at all. I also have the black shifter surround, steering wheel, and vent circle things. The black door handle pulls are on the way.

Not today but yesterday, sold my gt86!
Had great fun with it. Race tracks, Nurburgring, daily drive, holidays.
Since I became dad, I drove it only to/from job. Not worth in my opinion, as I have other cars (subaru outback, Golf sw), and I didn't like to keep the Gt in the garage most of the time.

Got myself a Golf R. 300hp, DSG, and lots of (cool) amenities. It will work well in every conditions. Less pure fun, but comfort, space, 5doors, a real boot, and wait, it's also quick

Here's a pic:

Funny, I'm in the opposite situation. Currently have a '17 Golf R, and as much as I like it (comfort, power/torque, amenities, 4-door access), I'm giving very serious consideration to getting rid of it in favor of an 86/BRZ/FR-S.

I know I'd miss the power and tech bits, but I really miss having a tossable RWD car. My main concern is rear seat space (or lack thereof) for my 9-year-old son. Mind you, when I do have a passenger he's usually the only one in the car with me. Decisions!

Yep, "since I became a dad" says it all - CONGRATULATIONS!

You can always get another little "fun car" after the kids are gone -

A 9 year old will fit back there till he hits puberty and starts growing

Ha Ha Ha, I did the opposite when I bought mine. Became a father (at the time was driving a Mazda3) and 3 years later sold the 3 and bought the FR-S. Don't regret it one bit!!

Just have your 9-year old son put his legs up on the other back seat whenever you plan to take another passenger!

I will probably switch back to a coupe when my daughter will be old enough to walk and I won't need to carry a stroller, a baby seat, diaper bag and so on

So, let's give 3-4 years to the Golf R.

(I always say "I will keep this car long, and no mod it". Yes, sure...)

My dad is 6’2” and rode to lunch in the back seat and said it wasn’t that bad. I have two sons, 12 and 13 and they ride in my car all the time. “Hey dad do some drifting”, “no, tires are to expensive for that nonsense”.

I had 4 kids, youngest is 12 and oldest is 16 and had anther one on the way when I got the FRS. My mom loved sports coupes with manual transmissions so I grew up in the back seat of a 1974 Civic, 86 Prelude, 89 Prelude, 91 Prelude and two POS Mitsubishi 3000GT’s. I new it wouldn’t be the end of the world if my kids had to cram in the back seat. They are freaking kids they don’t get to have a say anyways. Hahaha
