I asked mrs humfrz what she thinks I should do to make our FR-S a better GT car.
She said that it's fine the way it is - humfrz |

the image dynamics box was even smaller if one can be located now that they no longer exist.

Too loud Too small (back seats, meh, I'm not in them) Too low to get into (25mm drop) Still it only takes 15 minutes of driving befoe she is quietly snoring away. But she does like taking it to work when one of the kids take her car, which may I add, more and more she keeps offering her car to the boy. Actually alot more since I got the turbo, I believe she believes that I don't know what she is doing and has tricked me with her feminine wiles. She is actually a bit of a rev head too and thrashes it around wherever she goes. She does leave the nannies on though, from previous lessons learnt, she once took my old Nissan Skyline R33 (club car) to work one day and attempted to overtake a car on the way home, she dropped down a few gears and pedaled it hard, the old RWD R33 then proceeded to spool up the TO4Z to 22psi and light up the tyres and step out mid overtake, she was still white when she got home. Me and the boy LOL'ed hard. She wasn't impressed. Now that car was fun. Pic circa 2008?ish

What would I do to make the 86 more "GT like" and how does Mrs. Etherdude respond to it?
My wife also complains about stiff ride and noise. Plus given we are 69 and 73 yrs old respectively, getting in and out does require technique, but we have mastered the "plant your butt first, then swing your legs in" ingress and the reverse for egress technique. As long as we can open the doors sufficiently (to the first detent), we get in and out pretty well. I have said many times that the FR-S/BRZ/GT86 is a pure sports car in coupe form. It has the ride, noise, and fun characteristics of 1950's-60's enclosed cars like the Triumph GT6, MGB-GT, etc. while the Miata fills the open sports car slot filled by those such as the TR3/4/5/6, early AH3000, open MG's. In this, this the 86 is pretty unapologetic. Of course, in real terms, the 86 is much safer, more comfortable, and has the real performance of virtually any GT car of that era short of the MB 300SL, Jag XK-E, C2 and later Corvettes, or exotics from Ferrari. It could be more "GT" like, but this would require more noise isolation, not just insulation (more of which would be required as well). I don't think a necessarily softer suspension, but definitely more isolated, probably requiring either sub frame isolation or softer suspension bushings. To be honest, the PIONEER sound system in my 2015 FR-S ain't half bad. However, the sound in my 2020 is quite tinny. Speaker locations haven't changed, but the electronics (and I suspect lack of external amplifier) have changed. I will say, that my 2020 Hakone 86 is "softer" to me than my 2015 FR-S. It is not quieter, but the steering is lighter, shifter is smoother, and it is a bit tighter all around. Still lots of road noise though. Plus shit radio. Doug |

If the internet get's half of what they wish for then the Gen 2 Twins will be a true GT. It will be a heavier, more luxurious, hatch backed, barge just like the rest of the "true" modern "GT" cars.
All in all compared to what we have now it will suck. If I was after a modern GT I would have bought a Genesis coupe, 370Z or god forbid a Mustang.

True but compared to some of the cars being thrown around on here it is state of the art.

I have this burning suspicion that if there were a 2020 86 @Dadhawk Edition, it would simply be an engine, frame, and wheels with no body.

Slightly more forgiving seats would be nice. The bolsters are great, but actual seat padding is pretty hard and flat. Some VW GTI-style Recaros would be good as long as it stays low.
