Highly unlikely that the car will be running RE11S in stock form. Those tires cannot be used on wet surfaces, and wear way too fast for a production car. It´s probably what they will be running at the race.

Looked for the FT86 race category rules (SP3), didn´t find much details but:
- 1600-2000cc
- N/A
- Minimum 980 Kgs
- FWD or RWD
- Cars: Civic Type R, Peugeot 206, Opel Manta, Honda S2000, Renault Clio Cup, Golf GTI MkIII 16v

I did and it's pretty complex. I think it's safe to say though that all cars in the SP* classes are close to stock / lightly modified. For example, engines must have stock power output within 5% tolerance. Choice of brakes are free, as well for shocks etc. Minimum weight for SP3 is 1050kg (empty tank, no driver etc.)

All SP* (SPecial) cars must refer to the 24hr-race rules which you can find here : http://adac.24h-rennen.de/uploads/me...ng_2011_01.pdf

Interesting. If the HP has to be close to stock and we get some top speed figures on a good long straight, we could make a comparison between the 240 hp S2K and the 2XX? hp FT86.

Yes, the more details we can get about the car's performance at the track, the more we can infer about its power and weight.

Every time you think your FT-86 sucks because it is not an S2000, you can cheer yourself by thinking about the extra $10k you have in your bank account.

The bottom line is: The S2000 was a blast to drive. If the FT-86 is a blast to drive, I'm good with that.
I know comparing a used car to a new car is apples to oranges, but....

I bought my S2000 when it was one year old, with only 4800 miles on the odometer, for $21,300. And given how far vehicle performance has progressed in the last 10 years (WRX, Mustang, MS3, etc) I don't think it's unreasonable to desire it's performance to be on par with the S2000 (a sports car designed in the 90s). Though without a forced induction power option (or a curb weight under 2500 lbs) I don't see how it can match the S2000.

Also, the S2000 still IS a blast to drive

Sorry what?

It sure don't look like turn signal to me. Like I've stated, it looks like a plug to lift the car up.
