I gave in... I destroyed the original key and pulled the chip out. luckily it works... Phew!
I guess if i ever want to replace it back into a "stock" key I'll just buy a new stock type key blank off ebay and move the chip back into the new key blank.

Got mine, had to destroy the $#!& out of one of my clicker-keys to get the transponder chip out, then just used some gel super-glue to put it in the housing. Took the blank portion of the new key to a locksmith, and they copied my key's grooves into the blank (took all of 30seconds and cost $4.00). Works like a charm in the doors and ignition. Here's some pictures.

They're hidden under the leather part. The truck unlock is towards the "top" (towards the key), the panic is towards the "bottom" (towards the key-ring). Button layout is still the same, just hidden under the leather. Tested it, and all the buttons work beautifully.

I just received mine today and did the conversion. It took exactly 11 days to arrive from when I ordered it which isn't to bad since it came from China. I wanted to preserve my original key in case I ever had a problem with the new fob or wanted to convert back. In response to the one question, you can see the top of the transponder and it has a plastic frame all around the sides.

I used an exacto type of knife to shave the plastic frame on the back side and corner of the transponder. Then I would tear away the plastic pieces with needle nose pliers as I went. Once I got about down to the bottom of the frame on the back corner I used a hair dryer to heat the plastic a bit, got under the transponder with an eyeglass screwdriver and slowly worked it up till it popped loose. I was careful and took my time since I didn't want to risk chipping or cracking the transponder. There is enough of the frame left so I can push the transponder back into it if I choose to use the key again later. I used some paper to hold the buttons in place and snapped the key back together. It looks perfect on the outside and ready to use if I ever want to put the parts back in.

The new fob went together very easily and looks great, I really like it! I included a picture of the original key all apart with the transponder out. Then a couple pictures of the new key fob and the original key put back together after the project was done. Now I just have to get the new key cut and it's good to go.

Thanks... but I ended up destroying mine... its ok... I found that ebay also sells the original key shells... so i can buy one of those and move the chip back if i ever wanted.

plus if i sold the car... its not like the flip key wont work. so I got over wanting to revert back...
