Gauging interest - RCE Rally-x springs

I'm definitely interested in a 1 to 1.5" lift if it comes with more bump travel, especially in the rear. However, I'm on a shitty road situation, not a gravel situation. Today, I had to swerve to miss a bunch of rocks. 15" wheels with meaty tires and a bit of a lift, I'd have gone right over them.

For whatever reason, I always experience more oversteer than understeer. Perhaps because it's a 2013 FRS on stock suspension (crash bolts and camber in front excepted), wheels, and tires? Anyway, I'm leery of trying to make the car rotate even more. I can effortlessly rotate on power in first and second, and it's no problem in a steady corner in third. People talk about understeer, but short of stupidly overdriving, I've never seen it. Oh, and then there's the times I've taken the spare and tools out of the trunk. Even easier to oversteer.

So how oversteery on the street are you thinking? I wouldn't mind slightly less than a 2013 FRS stock.

Admittedly, I run zero toe all around. I suppose some toe in the back could tie it down a bit.

Some toe-in should help a lot with easing to keep things stable under throttle. Heck, it's common alignment choice for many RWD cars, and it's there even in stock OE alignment for our cars :P (which mostly differs from custom performance alignment only by lacking front camber and too wide allowed adjustment ranges. But still has zero toe front and some toe-in rear). I know, that getting some rear toe-in helped me both to easier/sooner accelerate out of turns on track, and to track straight under throttle on lacking grip such as ice/snow. Thus imho it should help also on gravel, to reduce need for mirriad of throttle & steering mini-inputs just to keep tracking straight.

I ran my first events on Altimax Arctics and they were pretty good in loose dirt and grass. Running stock tires sizes - I struggled to put power down but could move the car around at will.

Still eagerly waiting for a spring or suspension package. Also was going to go with Team Dynamic 15" as another FRS driver is using this successfully. Braid would also be swell. I haven't done any rallyx this season but ice racing is around the corner!

A winter tire with large tread gap is the tire of choice for stock class Rallycross. In fact, there wasnt a car in Stock RWD without winter tires last year at nationals. If it was really hard packed, an all season might be okay but Andrew was on the best thing outside of gravel tires on that surface.

Right on. Good treadblocks, unfortunately soft squishy sidewalls and temp range. Would be awesome if someone made a streetable rally tire, or the BFG K02 came in a reasonable 15 inch size for rallyx but oh well.

With a very bumpstop active car (like stock), the car can too easily understeer and oversteer, especially on a lower grip surface. With some extra compression travel and different rates, we can improve grip on entry AND exit.

Also some rear toe in would help.

We definitely want to have something ready by then. I realize we missed most of this year's rally-x season, but we're going to figure out the best path forward so people can have some fun in the snow.

Wow! Thanks RCE!

I've been reading this forum a lot in the past 2 years... And now I just registered on the forum to post here, since this solution is a massive interest for me and many other Canadian drivers.

Really looking forward for this suspension kit. Winter driving in Canada is nice with this car, but a bit more grip, control and travel will definitely help a lot.
I guess you can have similar interest from the WRX owners.

Btw, the ''go-to'' tire size for winter driving here is 205-55-16. Simply because the distribution is range is more readily available, and you don't loose too much sidewall stiffness. Even if we often see snow and harsh roads, there is still 70% of time driving on asphalt highways or cleared iced road, were the tire response is great to keep.

RCE, you just solved a real ''hole'' in the fun daily suspension aftermarket! :-) Cheers!

pmt666: firewall stiffness will be lost anyway due winter tires having them much softer and due softer rubber compound. Even on 205/50/17. So if one cannot retain that, one can easily go for 195/60/16 (my plan for this winter, as imho 205 still were a bit too wide)

I took my BRZ out for its first rallycross this weekend, and it was great, though the course was quite a bit bumpier in some spots than I'd expected. I was running stock suspension along with some 16x7 wheels and 215/55 R16 Bilzzaks. They did end up altering the course a tiny bit to get away from some of the huge bumps that were hidden beneath the grass, but it was still super fun. Mostly just sharing my experience and reiterating an interest in suspension for such.

Working on setting pricing and putting together a few packages now. We've still got a couple of boring business things to finalize, but I am absolutely dying to get these out to customers.

As I said pricing is not finalized yet but since these will be smaller quantities, they'll be a smidge more than our Yellows (but not like 400 bucks or anything).

One package will be the RCE springs, Bilstein B6 dampers, and Pedders camber/caster strut top mounts. The extra caster from the top mounts is important with the higher steering angles in rally-x and it's good to get a little camber without using a cam bolt.

We'll also have an (optional) bushing/insert package to improve feel and responsiveness.

15 and 16 inch wheels from BRAID and Enkei will be available through us as well.

Not officially accepting preorders yet...but if you PM I can put your name on our list so you'll be contacted once they're ready.

We're leaning towards red for the springs.
