BRZ suspension sucks!
I also hate every other aftermarket suspension. It's all too stiff and I get beat up by the roads every single day. I have tried Airlift, KW V3, Bilstein HD, and HKS MK 3 GT, and it all sucks compared to stock FRS suspension. I drove an FRS automatic for the first time since I got my BRZ, and it rode better with stock suspension than my car with HKS MK 3 GT suspension. So, I bought Darrendriven's set of FRS suspension he had for sale. Today I swapped the front HKS MK 3 GT struts for the stock FRS strut assembly, tophats, springs, and all. My car rides better than it ever has. How come nobody ever told me to get FRS suspension? I'm very disappointed in everyone, and I've got some suspension for sale. Check it out in the classified section.

Exactly why I won't waste money on most aftermarket suspension that's out there. Stock suspension is a good combination of comfort and performance. If I had to nitpick, I would say that the rear lacks sufficient suspension travel (even in stock form), which makes the car feel harsher to drive around messed up roads. If I had the money, I would go with a set of JRZ RS1 suspension, which I believe adds more travel. It now makes sense why the s2000 had an external reservoir in the rear for better dampening.

Right. Because you bought a sports car expecting Cadillac ride?
I do not know if this thread is accurate but it says that the BRZ rear rates are softer than the FR-S auto rear rates. OEM Scion FR-S A/T Rear 3.8k OEM Subaru BRZ M/T Rear 3.5k OEM Subaru BRZ A/T Rear 3.5k http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8739

I thought the BRZ rear was stiffer and that the newer FR-Ss were going to the BRZ spring rate.
There is absolutely no reason the KWv3 shouldn't have been able to be set up to anyone's liking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So what's your setup? Stock FRS. I am going for the RSR Sports-I. Consider it for comfort. Make the damp soft

Too sensitive?
When I got my car I could jump up and down on the door sill and it wouldn't even rock the car. My wife said driving the car hurt her butt, and not in a good way. I was surprised to see the struts were OEM when I removed them. I compared the FRS and BRZ struts before installing the FRS struts. Obviously different. The BRZ had 5 loops and the FRS had 6. I'm installing the rear FRS struts tomorrow so maybe those are all wrong. I have some Bilstein HD struts I want to try out with the FRS springs also. I'm beginning to think it's a spring thing.

You can't have spring without damping. Quality valving makes a huge difference.

Yeah the FRS and BRZ have different spring rates. The FRS was made to oversteer whereas the BRZ is set to understeer if i recall correctly. I thought the brz was actually supposed to be more comfortable than the frs, but i havent really been in a brz so i can't say.

Use FRS springs, don't do it with the BRZ front springs, the combination of hard front and soft back springs exaggerates the tiniest of pavement ripples, the front rocks the back. I have the springs and I will mix and match till I'm happy. I've been the bobble-head doll in my car quite long enough. I heard good things about the Bilsteins, I guess they were all FRS owners who switched to Bilsteins.
