Is the replacement permanent fix or is it just going to lift again?

I had my assessed a couple of days ago. It is hardly noticeable and the dealership did not find a TSB/recall for it. My service manager recommended I wait until my warranty is up in one more year and see if it gets worse. Meanwhile seeing if this is something that becomes more of frequent complaint. The pic above is definitely worse than mine. I wonder if replacing the dash will be a permanent repair.

I think it's a permanent repair in a sense that everything is restored to brand new condition, but it is likely to happen again if it continues to bake in the sun. So after replacing it, it would probably be best to protect it with a sunshade and whatnot

Seems like a longer term fix. My dash was coming up after 6 months or so. It's been getting a lot worse just these passed 3 weeks. Even if it's out of warranty I'd still bring it up to them.

Anyone consider pulling the center vent and just putting some glue with a syringe to keep it in place? The prospect of having the dealer replace the dash is terrifying in so many ways...

The thought crossed my mind, but then if I wasn't able to fix it then I would have screwed myself out of any chance of the dealership taking responsibility for it. Better off just leaving it to the warranty.

I will most definitely do this when the time comes. The dash has been coming up for a while now, but not enough to bother me to a degree to actually do anything about it.

I will not have the dealership tear the dash apart. When I had them fix the car, they couldn't even bother to put the wheel liners in correctly or use the correct size nylon fasteners.

Agree. I started to take the dash apart today and it looks easy to get to. Now to just find an appropriate glue.

Well, I took a swing at fixing this myself, we'll see how well it works.

The problem area is very easy to get to; pry off the two fake carbon fiber portions on your dash, unbolt the upper vent, and then pry it out (gently).

The issue is that the the dash isn't lifting because its multiple layers are separating; rather, it's just not tied down/clipped to anything other than in the direct center so when it gets hot, it expands and pulls up since it cant go out. I put a few thin pieces of double sided tape between that portion of the dash and the back of the vent; we'll see how well it holds.

See one post up. I left most of the pieces out so I can access this easier. The hardest part is getting the vent to separate after the tape has set. We'll see how it pans out tomorrow. If anyone's curious, so far it's just been 3m VHB tape.
