If I went E85 the fill ups wouldn't cost me a thing since it is so rare in these parts my car would be sitting in the laneway with an empty tank.

Mine sure as hell doesn't get anywhere near 40mpg. 26 maybe. FWIW, I've run a datalogger on E0, E10 and E85. This engine knocks and pulls timing on every fuel I've tried except E85. |

That's why I scouted my area and trips I would go to (ex. Madison to Chicago or Milwaukee) to make sure I can fill up if I run low. Plus the e85 station right down the street from my house. Lol

i'll be honest. I run regular fuel on all of my cars that require premium.
My 2005 acura TL has 380,000km on regular, never had one single problem. |

I drove a GTI VR6 for a while and always found that it ran best on Shell 93 octane. I recently began using the Shell 93 in my FRS after 5000 miles and found that my crickets have disappeared (had them starting at 500 miles) and my car pulls harder and smoother than it does with gas from anywhere else. I'm dying to try E85, but unfortunately I've only found one station in CT that sells it and it's an hour away.

To all those using regular in your cars that call for premium...yeah, we're not saying your car will blow up, but it will NOT perform as well as intended, and at that point, you may have well just have bought another, more economical car, derp...
Keep saving that 2-3 bucks a fillup...you piss that away on junk food, cigs, or coffee anyway |

But to your point, its more prevalent down here, but I couldn't name more than a couple stations that carry it. I have a feeling it will be going away in the next decade anyways. |

Is "laneway" really that regional a term? It is all I have ever called that little strip of pavement beside the house where I park my car.

As this forum is hosted in the good ole' USofA, I would request that you use our superior, correct terminology and spelling going forward. So no more "Litre" or "Colour" and to hell with that God-awful metric system. Base 10 is for heathens and communists. |

I spent last week in the States with a very mixed group. I pretty much gave up on trying to understand anybody from Tennessee and Georgia and just smiled and nodded a lot. All the teams were given coloured bandanas for one of the events. Wasn't a big deal until riding to dinner in a car full of Mexicans and they decided it would be funny to wear them over their faces like masks while driving through the Purdue campus. I thought we were going to get shot for sure!
