Bump. Any updates?

Been talking to a Master-Tech over at the Mercedes dealership I work at and he kinda swayed me towards not wanting to go E85...

If someone wants to buy me a new filter assembly ill gut mine... I left E85 in the tank for 6 months and then drove the car... (no one needs to explain this is a bad idea, I'm fully aware).

I have had E85 in the tank for ~ 18 months, the current tank is roughly 6 months old. If there is going to be ANY issue with a fuel filter mine should be showing it. It has had ~ 15-20k miles of ethanol pushed through it and has sat for long periods of potentially unsafe fuel.

How much is the filter assembly? We could all chip in a couple of bucks.

Still running e85, no issues to report here.

If someone can find the part number for just the filter part... But I don't know if you can order just it yet. I would have to check with a friend at subaru on Monday (if he is in).

http://www.buysubarupartsnow.com/sub...fuel-pump-assy

almost 300 for the entire assembly =/

How has it been running? Curious to see how e85 would fuck up the fuel system. Mine sat at Crawford Performance for a little over 4 weeks with e85 in her. She runs fine since the new built block. Just need to stay away from certain oil like mobil one.

You can get a slightly used canister for about $100 shipped on ebay.

4 weeks isn't really a big deal... I literally hadn't started that car in six months with a fresh tank of E85. Luckily the humidity in Phoenix is quite well. The car did fire up without much struggle last week and drove just fine on mid boost. I'll be tossing the injectors as 1) i need larger and 2) I really don't care to trust some that have been soaked multiple times in E85 :P

You never know what those were put through though... The canister that was originally posted that was blaming E85 had many people questioning what additives were in the tank. I am okay with running my current system as is but running some random one off a car that was parted out makes me a tad uncomfortable.

I thought I found a part number for around $100 for just the filter part but i couldn't find it on another site to verify. I'll try and get ahold of a friend at subaru today and see if there is in fact a separate part number.

I switched back to 91 last night, just as a preventative injector cleaning... Interestingly enough the crickets came back immediately upon switching to 91 from propel E85, they had been non existant on E85...

Has anyone else had any experience with the lucas safegaurd product @ATLBRZ posted earlier

@nelsmar, PM me if you decide to take up a collection for a new filter assembly, I'll contribute.

im not convinced of the buildup or gumming of injectors on e85 , @mkivsoopra pulled his injectors after considerable miles 17,000 on E85 and all clean, ethanol is an excelent solvent. The only possibilty i can think of is some form of additive for cold countries might cause some issue but not seen any proof. Tuner over here @coyote who has been tuniing wrx liberty,s and 86 on e85 for many years never seen any issue with gumming of injectors on e85.

Using it now but not really sure to check if it's working.
