P0335 after engine rebuild

Hi all

I picked up a Texas flood BRZ

Its a '17 with Brembos

I bought it with intention of building a race car but when it arrived I changed my mind because interior was in perfect condition. No water got in.

Bad news the water got in the engine ....long story short I got a new shortblock for it.

fast forward 3 days and I am trying to start it and no go
Ive done a ton of EJs (guessing 30+) but this was my first FA

I get the 335 code for the crank sensor

Any ideas? Is it possible that I've installed the crank trigger wheel wrong?

I remember it had an alignment pin but could I install it backwards?

Any ideas?

Thx
Greg

Yes, it's a common mistake. Comes down to a coin toss if you did not note the orientation of the plate when you disassembled it. Link to the service manuals in my sig line.

I just got from under the car. Pulled that little cover and noticed the teeth are pointing backwards so yes you are right, common mistake.

That's what I get for trying to put the engine in after midnight

Welcome to the forum. (edit: Oh, shit. You joined before me.)

Years ago I set myself a hard rule to stop working on anything in the garage after dark.

My error rate plummeted after that.

Had it idle for 20 mins and all looks good. No leaks. No funny noises.

I can go to sleep now.

Thanks everyone for help.
