So I have a 2015 BRZ. I purchased a 2017 wheel and clock spring.

The only issue is one port that the connector will not fit.

I did not use a 2017 clockspring. I used the existing clockspring from my 2015 and re pinned it.

I understand I'm going the route of making the 2017 clock spring work.

Your best bet is to do what I did then. Get a 2017 wiring harness. I got one luckily on Ebay for $50. Then pin-out or splice what you need into it from the old harness. For my car it was only 4 wires (I think one is the horn and the other is the cruise control)

I didn’t. I pinned them out using a meter.

i hope this diagram helps

disregard DP, DP2 and EAU

it would be a lot easier if you can find a new clockspring but make sure it comes with the harness (at the very least the connector with cut wires)

new clockspring connector

if you’re using the old clockspring, you won’t need a new harness. you’ll have to transfer the wires from the steering wheel control harness connector to the old steering wheel harness connector and add wires to the existing clockspring harness connector.

old clockspring connector

Question for you on this. I am currently looking at retro fitting a 2017+ cluster and would like to make the buttons for controlling that as well as the audio controls work. I was planning on using a 2013-2016 Roll Connector, problem is, the connector on the steering wheel only has 10 pins and I need 11 for this. One thought I had was running the extra pin or more than 1 pin through the 4 pin connector for the paddles for automatic cars. Do know think this would be doable? Any reason in particular I wouldn't be able to use those pins?

An update,
decided to just go with the 17+ roll connector and grab a cheap 17+ limited dash harness. Will hopefully be getting them installed next weekend. Working on pulling the necessary wires from the 17+ harness now. Need AU Gnd, AU1, AU2, DP1, DP2, EAU, Ill+, and Ill-. Will then pull the wires back to the head unit or dash cluster connector and start adding them into my car.

So, an update. Got it installed this past weekend, had to get the mileage on the odometer changed but other than that worked like a charm. Have the stock 2015 head unit so can control the songs and source but volume control isn't working. However all controls for the gauge cluster work perfectly. For ILL+ and ILL- they are just spliced together on the 2017 car so I ended up splicing them into the ILL+ and ILL- wires on the clock connector and it works perfectly.

Only other thing is I messed up the steering angle sensor when removing the old wheel so just bought a techstream cable to do a recalibration and hopefully that will fix it.
