I bet this is the same in many tires that have weaker sidewalls.

the chart takes into account the load index. also snow tires should be higher psi for various reasons

The stock tires are super fun, but the issues arises when you actually want to be fast around a corner. The turning point for me was a few years ago when I was making a left hand turn in a (double left turn lane) at the same rate as a mini van and I was loosing the rear end around the corner. The mini van rolled thru like nothing. Granted, I was on the outside of the corner so covering greater distance, but still you get the point...

Canyon carving and racing are two different things. I laugh when sedans out-handle me. I'm on my third set of stock hand-me-down tires. Thanks, @humfrz! I love 'em!

A while back I went from OEM rubber to 215mm Pilot Super Sports. Those were insanely fun road tires - if you drove like a hoon they'd oblige and slide like crazy but if you drove "properly" they had more grip than you could use on the street.

As others have said - that 300tw class is probably perfect for what you want. Your tires should do this too - perhaps you need a bit more commitment. They aren't THAT grippy.

I fully understand if you're never had a proper performance tire before that these would SEEM like racing slicks compared to the primacy or like an all season touring tire on a fwd compact car you may have had prior to this, but I assure you the indy tires aren't that grippy to zap fun with only 225mm.

Also imho FWD provides for many false sense of not slipping or more grip just because when one spins fronts on FWD, car tracks straight (torque steer aside) and/or straightens out. Otherwise similar tires/similar weight/similar power should be close enough in slipping or not, no matter what type of single-axle drivetrain (AWD will slip less, simply because at same power half the torque at wheel due double the wheel count driven).
From my experience, even when still on OE primacies, in same roundabouts i usually went at relatively higher speeds w/o slipping vs that of "normal" corolla i had prior buying twin.

Still no definitive answer?
I've run the OEM tires and Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Love them both.
Now looking for a similar option at a not so similar price.
My tires are bald both at the front and back. And I love it in the city and when kicking the tail out is an option a light flick just does it. But on the highway, in the rain, it's very, very dangerous.

Looking for something with the stiffest sidewall possible.
Any recommendation?

Leaning towards Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 and Goodyear Eagle F1.
What about the Falken FK453/510?

If you are looking for the stiffest sidewall, skip the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2. I am running them now. My only complaint is how soft the sidewall is.

I am going to try the Indy 500 next.

Indy 500 definitely has the stiffest sidewall out of the budget tires IMO

I'm on Falken Azenis FK510 right now, good grip but the sidewall is a bit mushy too. Ride quality is nice for a daily driver though, just can't push it to 95-100% around corners without feeling a little squishy/numb. Great 8/10ths tire if that makes sense. & solid wet grip too. So far the only tires I've been on that feel comfortable right up to the limit are the PS4S and then the crazy stuff like R888r...

Continental Extreme Contact Sport is the go to alternative to the MPS4S, Conti's latest offering supposedly got a stiffer sidewall but I believe it is still considered softer than the Michelin.

They're not much cheaper though, may as well go with the MPS4S (at least in 255/35/18)

I just went Continental Extreme Contact DWS in stock size. I haven't been able to test them in warmer weather, but they seem stickier than the OEM tires in cold weather. Looking forward to putting some miles on them.

Left all aids on. Car would slide out under a moderately hard turn, or quick shifting into 2nd around a bend.

UEL header, stage2 OFT, and Eibach rear sway bar and the back end is "on ice skates" as someone else said.
Definitely wasn't expecting it to break loose so easily first time I drove it after the sway bar
My new 86 actually came with a sway bar. Plus I'm getting coils so I can adjust the front camber. I think part of what happened last time with the FRS is that I was on springs with no camber so that back end was more grippy that the front. I plan to dial in some front camber and hopefully that car will stay a bit more neutral to oversteery, rather than understeer.

Check out the Continental Extreme Contact Sports next, it is a great tire. I just went from the hankooks ventus evo ll to those. They have about the same grip as the Hankook but a stiffer sidewall so steering feel is better. The sidewall on the hankooks is absolutely too soft. Wet and dry grip for the continental and hankooks is great though. With the Hankooks you know your tires will grip and gain trust over time but they always feel like play doh. Got 40k miles out of the hankooks so hoping the Continentals get me similar mileage.

Edit: I don't know why you would run 25psi in a tire; unless it is a track tire designed to run at low pressures. Running 25 psi in a street tire is pointless and just resulting in more tire wear and is less safe b/c it is not a recommended pressure...If you have a decent high performance tire, you can easily run 40 psi and not have any issues in a 200hp car. That is probably how I manage to get 40k miles out of a set of high performance tires. Oh and little performance driving/track note, generally, the higher the tire pressure so cooler the tire stays. A tire at 25psi will overheat and become slick much quicker on the track than a tire at 40psi.
