Toyota/Subaru r pumping these out as fast as they can..... Until global demand slows they will not bring out a new model.... There is a wait list of atleast 12 months so they say....

The 86 is still in early days as well with not many on the streets to be seen by the public an bring even more interest...

It has not been shown on the likes of Top Gear watched by millions world wide that will no doubt bring even more sales..

If ur waiting on a new model to be released expect to wait atleast 2 yrs we dont mind...

My turbo 86 will still be faster than ur 2015 86 at the track...... Lol......

we usealy build 500 cars a day per shift and 5 days a week so that means if there runnin like we are they build 50000 cars a week ... sounds like ALOT but when u brake it down to how many toyota delerships there are in the usa and all over the world it takes time to fill these spots up and stay with the demand...

Except his 2015 86 will probably not have that annoying torque dip, better interior build quality, and he can probably get the (supposed) TRD supercharger installed by the factory so he won't be plagued by Turbo lag + be covered by warranty.

Wait lists are common for cars new or even cars that are a model year behind. It varies from dealership to dealership because cars are allocated depending on the dealership's sales figures. Highly desirable products go to the best sales people because they will just fly off the lots. If your dealership is having trouble getting an 86, it's a good reflection of how that Dealership performs. While they CAN have an 86 transferred from one dealership to the other, it costs them money to do so and usually not worth it because consumers would generally not want to pay the fee if they're still on the fence.

If they say 12 months then just wait for the 2014. Get on the waiting list for it and when they accept pre-order deposits for it, go for it. Assuming the 2014 releases the same day as the 2013, you'll get your car two months earlier than waiting for the 2013.

One of the difference that i see,
People, many people are buying this car.
Other cars in its class, people are buying less at this time, because theyve been on the market for a while.

This car is completely new, so the many people who followed the development, are trying to buy it, the people who never seen the car and checking it out and discovering it, are buying it. And people being influenced by all the positive media attention are buying it.

Since its new, it hasn't had its time to settle on the market enough so all the people who wanted to buy it, already have it.

Other cars, im sure had high demand when it was first introduced. But they've been around for time to help demand pan out.

I'd leave a deposit, file away the papers that say its refundable, and if something comes along in the waiting period that you like better get your money back and get what you want.

For the price this car has NO competition.

You cannot walk into a dealership and walk out with a 2 door RWD sports car brand new for under $43-34k...

This opens up the market to a whole lot of people who other wise would not be able to afford a $70k+ 370z or similer...

No shit they didn't expect this much, the factory cannot supply more cars to Aus it can't handle it.
Off-topic and kind of a thread jack but since cars are more expensive in AUS, what are the prices of other things in comparison?

For instance, the FRS (base GT86 there) is $25k USD. But 92 octane here is $4/us Gallon (3.8L/Gal) = $1.05/Liter.

Insurance here varies dramatically from person to person and company to company but in WA State the sales tax on the car is 10% adding another $2500 to the price.

Just curious and sorry for the derailment.

Hell i have to wait at least 12 months so i can finish up my degree/certs, land a good job and save up a decent enough chunk of change before i can get one! It's one of many incentives for doing well at the last leg and pounding my fist on everyone's door later.

If I had to wait for 12 months, I would be upset
Too bad they can't just increase the production number like they did with Prius C.

Why is everyone complaining about having to wait?? There are over 300 of them listed on autotrader. If you can afford to purchase the car you can afford to purchase a plane ticket to fly a state or two over to pick one up.
