Bought a set of new Flex Zs about a 1.5 months ago and they are great! I am running recommended setting for shocks (7 clicks) and it feels even more comfortable than stock suspension, but at the same time it works much better than stock.
Went for 1 drift event about 3 weeks ago and these coils are making huge difference in a good way. Going to skid pad in a week again and I'll try a stiffer settings for shocks this time.

I went with the Flex A's because I wanted the hyd. bump stop. But I felt the stock 6K springs were to soft so I up graded to Swift 10K springs. Ride quality is stiff but not harsh or back jarring. And the car feels really good on the track.

Which swift springs did you use? I also feel like the 6k springs are a tad soft. Was there an option to do 8k springs?

What shock settings do you have them at? Near full stiff? Still somewhat street friendly comfort wise?

Install mine over the weekend, they feel great. The height is pretty good but I may raise the back a little, may 1/4 inch. Have the damper set at 7 all around right now.

There probably was a 8K option but I have run 10K before so I knew what I wanted.

8 out for the track but I'm still experimenting. And pretty soft for the street

I'm considering the Flex Z and the Flex A as they seem to be top choices in the around $1,000 and under price range. I don't really want to jump up to Fortune Auto and Feal territory (~$1,500).

The car is first and foremost a daily driver, but is autocrossed at most twice a month (not trying to be anything more than locally competitive), and will see a few track days a year (Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motorsports Park, etc). Will be on sporty tires (think Pilot Super Sports and other ~300TW tires) in relatively stock width (not financially ready to move up to 17x9 255/40 200TW quite yet, or ever), and on stock brakes with dual-duty pads.

Is the Flex A worth the money over the Flex Z? Are the Flex A also not rebuildable? Seems like they're main difference compared to the Flex Z is the hydraulic bump stop.

@CSG Mike, what are your thoughts on upping the spring rates on the Flex Z? Swift has plenty of options (http://www.swiftsprings.net/products...prings-70.html) perhaps 8K/8K would be better for someone who wants something a bit more aggressive like myself?

I like the stock suspension on my FR-S, but am open to bang-for-the-buck coilovers that prioritize performance. I really like that these include camber plates. I've decided I don't want to go with lowering springs.

Don't mess with a proven formula.

Rebuilding costs more than what these dampers cost, generally speaking, so don't let that be a consideration.

Quick question to Flex Z owners, I'm gonna pick up a set soon hopefully, but am I going to need some LCAs for a 1.5 inch drop? I've been searching around but half the posts I read say yes, the others say no.. I'm really not sure, since I can easily grab some Flex Z's but having to have grab some LCAs too will but the cost up more and I might have to hold out since I'm planning a road trip in a couple months

LCAs won't hurt in any way, will you lower or not, ability to fine tune even camber and of wished amount instead of relying at most what some miniscule play of undone and then retightened bolts may allow, imho is more then worth price that LCA costs. Even more so what cheapest ones, like SPC/Whiteline of those do.
If you were asking due budget reasons .. i also suggest to limit drop to within 1 inch. If you care about handling, if going lower then that, you'll also need other suspension bits to fix geometry changes due non-moderate lowering.

More short-term budget than anything, Need to save myself some spending money for a long road trip. That's pretty much the reason I wanted some Flex Z, they're affordable, and I can adjust the drop, so I can do 1inch until I have the money to get the LCAs and other pieces to drop the rest of the way, car's not going to be stance or anything crazy, just need better fitment and didn't want to just do lowering springs since I do enjoy a spirited drive every now and then. Keep forgetting about the whiteline stuff though, might be able to squeeze for those actually
