also, keep in mind that the price difference is skewed for the US market

a brand new Z in Canada is 20k more than an FRS

and in European countries where you get taxed based on engine displacement, the Z will cost a great deal more to the average consumer.

I had a 2004 350z with many mods and decided to sell it... bought a 2013 nismo 370z and was horribly dissapointed.
My 350z (Google volkdb350z that's my old z) was more of a raw race car feeling that you truly could drive hard with no problem. The new z didn't have that it felt like it was going to break and overheat.
My 350z at 55k miles literally lost no oil. I would measure after I drained it and it was exactly what I put in. My 370z, was losing oil from the beginning and Continued to.

I'm personally looking forward to see what Toyota has up their sleeves for the next couple years with the new frs and the ft1.

I had an 05 350, 07, and a 13 370, I never heard of oil consumption on any model except the old Rev-Ups and oil burning on the 370???? Really? Has this been documented?

Yeah, pretty uncommon for the 350Z/370Z to consume oil other than the '06. 2012 and later have a factory oil cooler (just your typical water to oil type) too.

My 05 350z used a rev-up engine, but didn't consume oil. One of the lucky few, from what I've seen. Have not heard about widespread oil consumption issues with any other VQ engines.

Sadly the oil coolers on the newer model 370Zs don't hold up well to track use. Apparently neither do the brakes, even after changing to Nissan's factory option track pads. At least that's what I remember reading when I was thinking about trading in my 350z for the 370z.

Changing fluid + pads gives the 370z about the same track braking performance as you'd expect from factory stock BMWs.

I tracked my '13 370Z at Sebring, with CHIN racing. All i did is replace pads, never went into limp mode, got hot but it was out of limp mode. i never went more than 4 laps at once though.

Out of curiosity, why no more than 4 laps at once?

I remember one of the magazines did extensive testing of the 370z at VIR after they had massive brake failure (stock brakes) and put the car into a wall.

I think they found that changing out pads alone didn't do much, but changing pads + fluid gave it the braking performance that they would have expected stock. I think it had something to do with the 370z lacking proper airflow/cooling to the brakes.

Mostly due to time, Skip Barber took a lot of the track. Also, its a rough track, I was losing confidence in the brakes to be honest. They start to feel just a bit spongy right around the 4 lap mark, which I guess is about 12 or 13 miles of really hard driving.

Got it. I've always heard that Chin was good about getting drivers a full 30 min/session, so that's a bit disappointing that you guys were getting squeezed on time.

Oh it was an easy 35 min. My best lap was a high 2:38 which was achieved with courage, which I NEVER repeated. lol.

If only there was already a 5+ page thread that discussed this matter in depth...

Search function ppl. Hell, I bet it's even on the front page.

As to the ppl slamming someone for saying the Porsche Cayman was the benchmark for the FRS, and then stating how much slower it is...he specifically said it was the handling and feel benchmark. And this has been widely known for years so I don't understand the hate.

You are absolutely correct. It was Car & Driver and they complained about this issue: TWICE.

The first time was when they took it out to the track (not the original review but the track comparo later). The second time was:

NISMO Z Review:
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...-lightning-lap

They got into a huge PR battle with Nissan about the issue and Nissan dropped the issue.
