I went the softer springs because when my car is on a track it, it will not be on sticky slick tyres... every thing I have seen/heard/read about the 86/BRZ is that they are already very capable on the std setup (springs that are substantially softer than 5k/mm) even with stickier tyres.... i just don't think any firmer is needed for me, so i might as well have a slightly less harsh ride, and yes i know that well valved shocks probably contribute more to ride quality than springs but for me i think the 5kg/mm springs instead of the 6kg/mm springs will be better.

I am not really intending to change any of the bushings in the car unless i find any obvious weaknesses, so I am just trying to keep it as compliant as possible.

I really enjoyed reading this. 86•BRZ has his (her?) selection criteria then gets the set up to suit. Not "I must have this because that's what every one else is doing".

How do you find them? Blue, red or gold? Did you go with their recommended setup?

I agree with @Captain Snooze

I only asked as the MCA website says that the coil overs come pre-setup as good as they can get them.

Red

I haven't had time to finish setting them up yet, but they felt good on the dyno today.

If it turns out half as good as the other MCA cars I've driven, I'll be happy.

they are set up as good as they can get them, mine will just be a tiny bit softer.
You could argue all day as to "good as they could get them" for what purpose but ultimately your suspension setup is going to suit the track or the road. They will still be better than my abilities anyway.

If he paid "only" 5k he got a bargain. I have read of prices ranging from 10k up.

From what I understand these (reds and blues) come set up specifically for the 86 already, which I'm guessing is a compromise for track n road. But are we able to order and request for a more road biased setup?

86BRZ how much extra did u have to pay for the custom spring rate?

Oh, and are the reds and blues made by MCA themselves, or by another manufacture to MCA's specifications?

I believe the Blue are designed for the road.

I got blue
The way I see and i am certainly no expert, the std car is pretty solid as a compromise between road / track.
Coilovers really are for track work. I just won't be doing hard core track work on expensive sticky tyres.
Honestly ring the Cootes or Josh @86drift and tell them what you intend to with the car. Josh coote told me they are not uncomfortable but if you want you can get softer. I did... slightly softer.
After a brief ride in coyotes car. I agree. They weren't too harsh.
The Internet won't help much with subjective impressions of ride quality. Ask an expert or better yet, try before you buy where you can.
It's a safe bet that anything from MCA will be good.
