Yep. I am not saying that the info here is right or wrong but it does appear to be blog stuff so will not take it at face value until Subaru says the same thing.

Hmmm no. Bling? More like offering their customers to stay in Autox stock class. Not that I need a Brembo to AutoX since I'm still new, but for those who need it, good for them.

Feels like Subaru just wanna kill off the other twin by offering a lot of better stuff. Hopefully the mono spec 86 is still comparable and not totally left alone. In the dust of this new and much better looking BRZ.

Keep in mind that there are many other trim levels for the 86 everywhere but here and you can bet that they will get all the same goodies that the BRZ gets. I don't think this is some sort of sibling attack. It just seems like it in NA where were have only had monospec all along.

I never said that was the intention of the manufacturer. Have you not seen all the people in other threads bolting on Brembos from the WRX STI with absolutely the wrong brake bias just cuz of bling.

Now that VW and Mazda have performance packages for their GTIs and Miatas in North America, it's no brainer Toyota/Subaru should offer something similar for the twins to stay competitive. The factory 6/4 pistons Brembo option from TRD and STI have been around for quite sometime in Japan, but requires 18" wheels to clear them.

If the 86 gets all the stuff from the BRZ Limited and an available nav option I'll take the 86. I really don't wanna rely on my mobile phone all the time for nav >.<

Looked at in isolation, one "improvement" here seems questionable - the "larger rear stabilizer bar". Based on considerable time spent experimenting with different setup parameters in several sim racing titles, increasing rear ARB stiffness will typically increase mid-corner understeer (all else being equal). The Subie is already considered to be less playful at the rear than the GT86, and from everything I've heard it doesn't need more inherent understeer.

It's quite possible that the other modifications Subaru has made to the shocks, spring rates, and/or body bracing counterbalance that ARB change or even push the car in the other direction - time will tell.

Tcoat you're right, but in my eyes I feel like they want the NA 86 to just die off along with SCION. It's like Hey guys there's only enough room for one twin in America. I guess we'll see time will tell, at least we'll see one or both of them and their base incarnation by end of summer fall this year

True. And just yesterday I was reading a comparative review in which the GT86 was knocked for its relatively poor braking performance (it took about 10 more feet to stop from 60 than its competitors IIRC), so the better brakes appear to be more of a needed functional upgrade than simply a cosmetic change. (Of course most brake upgrades don't really improve stopping distance, rather they offer greater resistance to fade, overheating, and pad wear under extreme use conditions. But they could improve braking times if combined with stickier tires.)

Unlike the Miata, though, the standard seats in the BRZ are great - no need for an expensive Recaro option like Mazda is adding to the MX-5 for MY 2017.
