This is my DD and like most american sport car drivers we love to race light to light. Since every person on the road has a V6 mustang or camaro now a days it would be nice to beat these dam V6's from light to light. If your an american you understand. Yes I get the fact that this is not a muscle car and it is an import that's not made for it. That does not change the fact I want to win and see the look on there face when the little 2.0L 4 cylinder just beat them. The reason I don't change cars to one made for it is simple. American cars dont handle like imports and this car looks great and fits me like a glove.

There are tests out there measuring the acceleration impact of lighter wheels/tires using professional equipment. The difference is nowhere near that big. Often times it's barely measurable.

The wheels look good though.
I repeated the 0-60 runs 4 times each. 7.4-7.2 was the range. Stock wheels were 7.8-8.0. Almost always 8 though.

I actually don't understand racing on the street, but I'm glad it's something that interests you, and has made you set goals to better yourself.

Living in a very flat state makes for wonderful roads to open the car up on. I-75 towards maimi at 5 am is completely open for a top speed run (not that I condone this at all). Traffic gets bad between 6:30am - 7:30 pm with a small window between 11 until the time schools get out.

99.9998% of the drivers out there have no idea how fast the "little 2.0L" is and will show no surprise whatsoever if you beat them since they just won't care.
The .002% that do know and care are going to kick your ass anyway so you may as well get used to it.

And no not all Americans feel the need to race from light to light.

Hmm... same stretch of road and weather conditions? How many pounds did you actually lose per corner?

A while back Grassroots Motorsports tested 0-60 using a VBOX on a Miata that lost 12 lbs/corner with lighter wheels/tires. It made a 0.3 second difference. If that's what it takes to drop 0.3 s, imagine how much weight you'd need to shave per corner to drop 0.8 s.

I am not sure exactly but it is somewhere between 6-7 pounds I believe. I am guessing though since the tire shop who installed them did not have a way to weigh them.

Weather conditions were not the same. The stock rim runs were in the middle of the day and probably around 88 degrees out. The other runs were done in the morning with temps of low 70's. Which made some difference to I am sure.

My last car had 32 lb OEM wheels. Cut them down to 18 and that made a difference. I doubt saving weight on an already lightweight wheel will do much at all. What 6 pounds at most? Will soften your ride a bit but that's it.
