Got the letter

Got a letter from Subaru (old school!) with the info everyone is talking about, Service Program WQC-39. Only thing it says that I haven't read here is: "WHAT WE ARE ASKING YOU TO DO PROMPTLY" is make an appointment with the Subaru Dealer "as soon as possible". And the curious sentence: "Please present this letter to your Subaru Dealer on the day of your service appointment." Wait, what? Why would this be helpful? How could they not know? I haven't a clue.

My Vin is 00367.

How would this affect an already tuned car?

How about if a stock-ECU car got the recall-flash and then flashed a tune? Would the tune negate the recall-flash?

Any ideas if ECUtek will address this in their own flashes?

Check with your tuner to see if they're using the latest dealer reflash that includes the fix. I if not, getting it fixed will just be negated by your old flash until it too gets the reflash.

Lol, I got a letter in the mail too! Guess its serious enough that they would email and send a letter. Seems like a conspiracy...

Reading the letter, the gist seems that if the Thermostat doesn't work, you'll get a CEL. At least that's what the wording says. I am wondering if they're implimenting a fix for the idle dip too.

Just got my notification in the mail. VIN 0869 - no CEL issues or anything. Not sure if I should bother with this "fix" and risk causing issues.

If I do decide to get this done and they have to keep my car, would they give me a loaner car for the duration of the fix?

Got the letter yesterday too, I am an early BRZ as well (733). I haven't had an CELs but the car does idle like crap. I have an appointment for the service on December 18th. Hope it fixes the idle issue, and I wouldn't mind the "chirping" being quieter too.

Depends on the dealer. Where I bought my car, they hooked me up with loaners twice when they had my car in. Another dealer said they'd just show me to the nearest Enterprise rental.

It is interesting. Of the people who are listing vins they seem to be in the lower numbers. I wonder if they are notifying in purchase order? I am in the 3400 range and have not been notified yet.

Brought my BRZ in for Taillight condensation and they told me about the ECM update, it is VIN based judging by the comments on my invoice from the dealer.

"9084 VIN number falls into the recall range"

Got the Following done today at Carter Subaru Shoreline, WA: ECM update, GPS fix and front speaker grill.

Waiting on taillights and DRL replacements due to condensation.

Carter Subaru is awesome btw, quick, friendly and knowledgable.

GPS is working great so far! Don't even notice the ECM update.
