A good tech is worth his/her weight in gold. If you find someone who really loves the trade and shows it, make friends fast. It's a tough, thankless gig where it takes a dedicated advocate who can walk the line between details and profit.

They also found an oil leak so waiting to hear if my cpo warranty will cover fixing the oil pan.

Did you have any modifications? Just wondering if the dealer would still do the recall if modified. Thanks.

Even if it is about to expire, just file a planned Non-operation with DMV = $20. Then if/when you do move… months/ year later, just trailer your car to where you move to. I like CA in regards to the back roads, weather/ climate year round, and great mountain biking / hiking that can be had every 20-30 miles costal (with in 30-35 miles of the beach inland).

What I dislike are the politics that exist county to county that conflict with each other , taxes , cost of living , high production of alcohol (wine and beer mainly) / and consumption . If you're a agriculture based business ( using natural resources like water), it seems like they are given free reign to use such resources without the need / thought of regulating/checking their consumption and how their consumption affects the local population ( like … well home owners still need water to take showers/cook/etc). I could think of another thing or two … but I'll digress for now

I am beyond irritated over this forced recall (screw you, CA) all for an affected population of 0.1% of cars. I should have a consumer right to sign a waiver and accept the liability. I can't wait to move out of this stupid state.

There must not be many former VW owners here. I had 3 between 1985 and 2013 (Golf, Passat, GTI (in order of fahrvergnugen)), and each had at least 1 recall.

That dates back to the gold rush in the 1840s. It's called prior appropriation doctrine (as opposed to riparian doctrine) and grew out of people fighting over water for gold mining. California developed it, but eighteen states have adopted it. So it's only a political issue when people try to get it changed, and you're not unique in having the problem.

I dropped off my car past Monday for this recall, and it should be done this afternoon. The Toyoda dealer did cover the rental car while the work are being done.

Update:
All the work was done and the car runs normal, I do not have any mods except the TRD air box and the new 2018 OEM red intakes.
The dealer replaced all the seals and oil, They even replaced the air intake seal, which was leaking. All with nothing out of my pocket.

I havent had mine done yet, but thats what the service manager has explained and what I see covered based on the instructions for the repair. The spark plug deal may be on a dealer by dealer basis but I wiuld try to get it if they dont offer it themselves

Nah...there are probably more cars in this range than you would think. There are a good number coming up on seven years old at this point.
