Are you insinuating the GC is Hyundai's halo car? The GC isn't a high end car like the GenSedan is marketed to be. The GS shares styling ques with Hyundai's new halo car, the Equus. I'm glad the GC looks nothing like it's luxury sedan counter parts, that would be boring.

I meant it as in their sports car/tuner car halo the car that brought Hyundai to the tuner world really

No I did not

The Tibby was never accepted as a tuner platform by the industry like the GC is

I thought I recall seeing at least a few Tiburons in magazines later in their life. Not really sure how many Genesis Coupes have been featured, since I don't read magazines anymore, but a couple of the guys at gencoupe.com have been. I wouldn't say the aftermarket is exactly bustling for that machine though either, which is what's holding me back on getting one.

I wouldnt mind test driving one of those... That might be a cool car if its tuner friendly.

Any FI is better than no FI... well, most of the time. I'm already betting if they go with this it's going to be costly. Twin turbo would probably just add on top of that even more cost to the car. I'm just happy seeing anything being done since the 3.8 aftermarket is so small. Figure this gets the bump that the sedan has to 333hp, and add 20% hp increase for the blower, and a 400hp V6 with a 10yr/100mi warranty sounds pretty damn good.

You know I never cared that the N/A V6 isn't tuner friendly. The car already has a terrific power/weight ratio stock. I like my ratio between 10-12 lbs per horsepower and the 3.8 Track is 11.2/1hp.

FR-S/BRZ vs. Genesis Coupe

What are your opinions? I think we finally have enough information to really start comparing this car to some vehicles that are currently on the road. I was seriously considering a Genesis Coupe before I started looking into the FR-S/BRZ. And to me it feels as if the FR-S/BRZ is the missing link between a Miata and Genesis Coupe. (Although the Miata is not the topic of this discussion) - Any thoughts on comparing these cars to the Genesis Coupe?

Personally, the GC is too big, too heavy, and too haphazardly styled for my preference [that window-line is simply awkward]. The low-rent interior isn't helping matters either. If a car is going to be heavy, at least have a decent interior to excuse the bulk.

Well I thought the GC2.0T R Spec I drove was quite possibly the most disappointing car I've ever driven.... I had really high hopes for it which is probably partially why I was so disappointed.

There is 0 chance that I would EVER consider a GC 2.0T, and the 3.8 is out of the FR-S/BRZ price range..

Dave why do you feel that way? I would love to hear your in depth opinion on it since I have driven the car myself 2.0t/3.8. I liked it a lot when I drove the car, very responsive steering with good weight, tight feeling chassis, handling was good enough for street but not excellent and super sharp, brembo brakes was outstanding, power was great(3.8), and the auto wasn't as bad as most but the manual is another story.

The GC might be better bang for your buck, but I trust Toyota's quality over Hyundai's. That's the main reason I won't buy a Hyundai; I want to keep this car for 10+ years.
