different strokes for different folks I suppose... that's like saying people who comb their hair or wear nice clothes are wasting their time. To some people not looking like sh*t is important, just because it's not a priority for you doesn't make someone else's life worthless.

Is traffic to the Marina district complete shit from everywhere? Been looking at rent around that area and it's crazy...
It's nuts haha. I find the best value-to-proximity ratio is the boring neighborhoods with mostly one ethnicity. Technically ghettoes, but not like that haha. Sunset and Daly City are good choices, I live in a very small old chinese neighborhood called Portola. Avoid the Tenderloin. I've noticed, though, that it's not hard to get lucky and find a good place around Japantown, which is a fairly great place as long as you avoid going straight south or east of Van Ness on foot. Like $1700/month for an above-average studio with parking is a good value around here. And yes, the traffic can get hilarious.

Finally, my header shipped!

I don't obsess over it, hell my car was hit in the first two weeks I owned it. I took on the very mindset you're talking about - shit happens, don't worry yourself sick about it.

If I can easily avoid any sort of damage to my car (cosmetic or mechanical) I'll try to do so.

Speaking of dings, this happened yesterday. SJ Giants ball boy didn't know how big his mom's car was and turned too short into my parked car. I felt more bad for the kid coz he was scared hehe. No injuries, insurance will cover it, moving on with life

Rent in SF is not cheep by any means unless you want to compromise. What I would recommend is right in like with NissanGuy. Outer Sunset can be affordable, it is mainly on ethnicity, Chinese, it is quiet and safe. I street parked my car there for six months and the worst thing that happened was a bunch of high schoolers leaning on it taking pictures like it was theirs. Problem is you are farther from Marina. The closer you move towards Inner Sunset the more you will pay in rent as it is busier and there are more local businesses.

I agree in avoiding the Tenderloin, it has a bad rep. for a reason but there are nice(er) areas that borderline it. I would most certainly not street park my car there and any money saved would go to a parking garage.

Portola is nice. I almost moved there. It was a toss up between Portola and Richmond. Richmond is pretty nice, and traffic isn't the worst when you can take side streets. Outer Richmond is very reasonable if you find the right postings. And in relation to the Marina District it is close. I ended up leaving San Fran all together in the long run. Moved in with the GF in Sausalito because in the long run it would be cheaper.

Good luck haha

But we don't park our faces next to each other hoping we don't bump noses.

I ended up taking my car to Bart. I had to leave it there for 12 hours, which is why I asked. Should have mentioned I was worried about theft too.

Unfortunately someone stole my friend's phone while on the Bart. Beware. Things like that are why I asked in the first place.

Hahahaha

I'm a little lost on the comparison but that was just funny as hell to read

I hope not. Just not feeling those fenders. I know rocket bunny is so played but they still look awesome! Even just the fenders without the rest of the kit.
