If you are stripping the car, probably Prepared.

SM or Prepared. Check the rules and ask more specific questions on interpretation for better guidance if needed. You need to read the full set for either class as they build on lower class rules.

I am planning on doing my first AutoX event in a few weeks. I have no experience in any type of event like this, so any advice anyone can offer would be appreciated.

My car is stock apart from a clutch spring delete, so I should be in the D Street class right? And do the car numbers matter apart from not having the same number as anyone else in your class at that event?

D street is correct for most FRS/BRZs. (Performance pack BRZs, and TRD 86/FRSs are in C street)

You'll typically pick a number when you register, whether that is online before the event, or at the event. Make sure they have loaner helmets, otherwise you'll need your own.

Thanks. As for the helmet, I can just use my motorcycle helmet, right? Its Snell 2010 certified.

Most autocrossers are very cool and happy to offer advice. Moreover, we tend to be (overly) enthusiastic about new people. Ask questions, tell people it's your first event, I bet just about everyone will go out of their way to help you have a good day.

I adapted our welcome email for the MAC novice events to a general info page on our web site. Clearly some of this is club-specific, but a bunch of the content is broadly applicable.

It doesn't hurt to see if your program has some sort of specific novice program.

...and if you do catch someone that isn't as helpful as you'd like, don't take it personal. I'd say 99% of the people mean well, but not everyone is outgoing and sometimes you catch folks under stress.

As long as it's Snell 2010, you're fine. A lot of motorcycle helmets are M rated, which is not fine.

It does, of course, depend on your local club's insurance/rules. In general, though, this is correct. With Snell 2010 (either SA or SM) you should be fine.

This is the helmet: http://www.hjchelmets.com/cl-17/cl-17-redline/

Its Snell M2010. I guess I'll just have to check with the event organizers to see if that's okay.

What club are you running with?

I just did a quick web search. I see several clubs associated with the SCCA, plus the North Hills Sports Car Club (http://www.nhscc.com/).

The SCCA clubs will definitely be good with your helmet. It looks like the NHSCC also allows Snell-rated helmets within last three generations, which would include your helmet.

If you're running with someone else, I don't know; but, for these clubs, you should be able to use your helmet.
