Fender Liner Removal?

At my last Autocross I hit a cone and it managed to chew up my right side fender liner pretty bad. At first I thought it was fine, but it ended up rubbing my tire later and big chunks of it came off on the interstate. I was thinking of replacing it, but now I'm wondering if I should just remove them completely. Anybody else here ever done that? If so, did you have any major issues?

I took mine out to fit brake ducts but have since replaced it. If you leave it out more water (or salt in winter) will get all over the engine and might allow for rust to build? Also remember that they are an areo part.

I lost mine many times in a similar fashion, I always just replace....too much water and crap up in the engine bay to leave them off.

Hit up maximalperformance.com, we put them on their with new hardware after I lost my....6th or 7th one haha.
