Hajime no Ippo is a boxing anime that is heavy in the feels department and is both engaging and exciting (boxing is just the backdrop for the character development). Plastic Memories, so much feels. It is about a robot and human who are partners who's job it is to retrieve outdated, malfunctioning, or obsolescent robots (basically the robots get Alzheimer's and have to be scrapped). The robots aren't violent and the show is about the emotional aspect of the whole process. It is sad enough to even make robots cry, you are warned. You can't go wrong with these three. Capeta is about 50 episodes, Hajime no Ippo is like 75 with a couple of movies, and Plastic Memories is just 13. If you like Initial D, and like some emotion in your anime these will fill the bill. Of course, if you haven't seen the all time classics: Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Evangelion, and Ghost in the Shell you should check them out as well. http://horriblesubs.info/# has some great new anime shows (this past season was a little light on quality, but there were some diamonds in there). |

Man, you guys are being too helpful. I usually just recommend School Days or Boku no Pico.

Like 14stu said, Capeta & Hajime no Ippo have a lot of technical talk/topic and underdog fighting get you excited.
Here are other series I would recommend. Top recommendation: Kino's Journey Code Geass Bunny Drop Fate/Stay Night East of Eden Zetsuen no Tempest No Game No Life Mahouka Aldnoah Zero Heavy Object Overload Gate Maoyuu Hyouka Rest that I woul recommend: Steins;Gate Mushishi Natsume Yuujinchou Re:Zero Boku no Inai Machi Bakemonogatari Lupin 3rd movies Ghost in the Shell SAC One Punch Man Highschool DxD Fruits Basket Utawarerumono Angel Heart Gintama Asobi ni Iku yo! Maria-sama ga Miteru Angel Beat Uchuu Kyoudai Gangsta Nejimaki Seirei Senki ex-Driver Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi If you give me specific genre, I could give you more depth, but these series could be good start.
