I'm experiencing this olin my toyoda rav4.. It's a year 97.. So guessin the temp control is broken or vent for heated air underhood is not closing fully.. Bring to service right away and let us know about it.

My 2004 Corolla S has always done this as well. Feels like the outside AC vents take a detour next to the radiator for some reason .

Hopefully this isn't the case with the BRZ

Basically, with the windows up I have to use the A/C or be cooked out of the car even though it's 70 degrees outside. With the windows down, it feels like you have an exhaust leak into the car.

What's everyone's else's experience? It seems broken to me, so I'm going to take it in for service.

My car also got a really bad knock today, but it went away. Very concerning.

Some cars are just that way, depending on how the underhood packaging, the exhaust pipe routing, and the HVAC ducting coincide with each other. My Miata's were always that way. The "vent" always issued warmer-than-ambient air, and having hot footwells was a very common pet peeve.

I've had a few cars that do this. It's probably due to the fact that the intake air has to pass firewall and then through the blower motor and all the plastic piping in the dash, so it has time to heat up.

My Eclipse does this. It's not hot but a little bit warmer than ambient. Even when off it blows some air in so you have to redirect it or shut the vents. But I always have my windows open when it's warm out anyway. Unless it's warm and raining, then I turn the A/C on.

I'm kind of surprised this car would do this though. I thought that was something they fixed/changed with newer models. I wonder if it has something to do with Denso's system.

Must be a Toyota thing...(My Corolla does this too)

Here's my solution:
Turn on A/C for awhile till the air is cold.
Then turn off the AC a little later. the air should start to cool down somewhat but will stay coldish.

I've always thought it had something to do with the ambient air temperature outside which its drawing the air from.

The worst part is sometimes i get a nasty smell with the dial on Cold until i turn on the AC which gets rid of it.

My sister has a toyota camry 07 and it has the same problem since we first got it.. you could try before turning off the AC set the temp at a room temp(comfortable car temp) then turn it off. With camrys if you leave the dial on cold , and turn it off you will slowly feel the chill kick in.. Same goes with the dial on hot making your eyes dry out and a swamp in your seat

Also if it wasn't suggested already, check your oil, in regards to the knock.

I live in Texas and if the AC isn't on then you won't get cold air period. We can only use the fan with no AC in November.
