Next CDC Autox Saturday April 13th and TNT Sunday April 14th Frederick, MD

Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick, MD is the location of the next CDC autocross on Saturday April 13th. We will also have a Test and Tune Sunday April 14th.

NEW Grid and Heat Format at Harry Grove

Heats
We got permission to stage cars on the narrow walkway/access road between the upper lot and lower lot at Harry Grove, Frederick, MD.

For this event we will not have A and B Groups, but instead we will have 4 heats with no (A and B). This effectively changes 6 different groups into 4. The work assignments will be the following:
Heat 1 (old 1A) Drives and Heat 3 (old 2A) Works
Heat 2 (old 1B) Drives and Heat 4 (old 2B) Works
Heat 3 (old 2A) Drives and Heat 1 (old 1A) Works
Heat 4 (old 2B) Drives and Heat 2 (old 1B) Works

We're making this heat change so that driver's won't have to go directly from working and walking all the way to the upper lot to stage on the access road. This new format allows the next heat to get their cars before the previous heat is finished and thereby saves a lot of time.

If you are a morning only I plan to load these drivers in Heat 3 to avoid having to hunt from drivers that may skip out of their work assignments.

Overall, this format should make the day shorter.

Grid

The grid will be a hot lane on the narrow access road (e.g. no grid on the lower lot). This configuration will give us more run-off on the course and should increase safety.

One issue is that after each run, cars will have to leave the lot and drive on the public road to the upper lot. We will have a worker station to make the driver remove their helmet and "cool" down for a few seconds before letting them to back to the upper lot.
Speeding, aggressive, or any crazy driving on the public road can jeopardize us using this venue. So if you speed, aggressively drive, or drive like an idiot, we will IMMEDIATELY EJECT you from the event and possibly BAN you from the club.
For cars that have issues with driving on the public road (e.g. you removed the windshield for the event), we will allow limited parking at the lower lot for you.

SATurday April 13th Autocross

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute.

The event fee for the Saturday autocross is $30 for members and $40 for non-members ($10 goes for a one day membership per slot - so a double slot would have to pay the $10 membership both times) at this event.

SUNday April 14th Test and Tune Day

These Sunday Test and Tune Events will be held the day after the Saturday Harry Grove Stadium Autocrosses in Frederick , MD. The Test and Tune event will be an informal autocross using the same/similar course as the day before. The differences are the following:

Field is limited to 40 participants with about 5 organizers (for a total of 45 vehicles).
Times will be announced, but no results (we typically post but no promises), no points, and no indexes will be posted –This is only for fun
No extra runs if we miss a time – This is only for fun
The format will be 2 heats with 5 morning and afternoon runs (number of runs in the afternoon will depend on time and weather conditions. We hope to give 9 to 11 runs).
No food or drinks will be provided – We need to keep the amount of equipment to a minimum. So plan on either bringing drinks and food or going out to lunch.
Event is open to members and their guests only, since the event is so limited in size.
The entry fee is $35 per member, $45 for non-members ($10 goes for a one day membership per slot - so a double slot would have to pay the $10 membership both times).

All 40 slots will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

On-line Reservation System

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time at www.capitaldrivingclub.com under the Schedule Tab. Open reservations for non-members for this event begin Friday March 8th.

New Members
