it all depends on how you interpret the data.. how many of those failures happened due to excessive power (passing the safety limits of the stock internals) and how many of them properly tuned but still failed, I think those are the things you should consider also before making assumptions..and on a side note most of the time you see the failures on the online discussion boards which make sense since people seek for answers/help but many owners don't even bother participate these kind of surveys

Thats exactly it.

Anybody who has blown their engine WITHOUT doing all the supporting mods, should not be considered for this survey.
Bad tune - out.
No wideband (goes inline with a bad tune) - out
No oil cooler - out
Excessive power - out
Etc...
Etc...

Are you just running around following all my posts to hound me or something>????

I wasn't accusing anyone of anything. People are stating things are causing their motors to blow that should never happen if they're monitoring their cars with widebands. That's where I'm getting it from.

So either they're running their cars without WB or they're stupid and not paying attention or whatever, take your pick...

No you happened to post here shortly after mine and I am subscribed to both threads.

Even if you have a WB (Which if your not running one... WTF but I don't remember seeing that) you only have a split second to catch it with boost before it doesn't matter.

I"m not running one in my car that I've had for three weeks... I have run them before though.

Yes, you have very little time to react and yes things can still go to shit.

If you haven't rushed into pushing your car and you've used the WB to properly monitor gradually up to the point that you're pushing the car, then unless you have something fail (boost control on a turbo, etc..) you shouldn't have a catastrophic failure like that. Can it still happen? yes.

Since this thread is about blowing motors on boost I don't think this applys to stock, lightly modified or the majority of NA cars.

That's the numbers as they are now. Sure te percentage is a lot less. I'm not in the financial situation where I could even face a risk of 5% of blown motor. I could pay to set it up right but can't pay to replace a block.

And I'm sure there are people who have done the set up correctly and had a time and support mods and still lost their motor.
I will play when I have the money to pay. Until them playing it safe.
