My 2013 FRS has a trunk button below the far left AC vent. I have to hold it for a second or two to open the trunk.

Mine didn't work either. Interesting. I imagine that's a security feature because of frameless windows. I can't even use the electronic unlock button, has to be the manual lever (I assume that's the one you are referring to).
