Lol, I would of assumed Subaru had all the tools needed to maintain their own boxer engines... but then again; the HPFP is a new concept for their boxers so...

Part number tends to be tied to functionality of the item, Subaru may source the oil filter from 10 different factories and sell as the oil filter for a range of engines under a common name, replacing every engine manual where the number is mentioned each time there is a correction would consume a lot of resources. Since the recall states that corrective action has been implemented on the production line, it implies that aside from regional stockpiles all pumps going out are of updated type. Also, at $250 a swap, its unlikely the old pumps will be utilized without remanufacturing.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmooGfYQxms"]Scion frs idle noise - YouTube[/ame] The high-pitched "chirp" is what we are talking about here; it's been an on-going problem since the car was released... Hopefully this TSB fixes it once and for all... (Not exactly counting on it though) The other rapid "ticking" noise is normal (multi-port fuel injectors working away); hopefully you're not talking about that. But anyways, if it is confirmed as the chirp for your car... then god, please have mercy...

Looks like you need a torx socket and a 6mm hex wrench. Apparently they didn't have one of those.

I bought my FR-S last month and it started chirping around 300 miles. I called the dealership yesterday and I'm scheduled for the fuel pump fix on Oct. 16th.
